Workshop-cum-Training Programme on CollabCAD software<br />
A three day Workshop-cum-training programme on CollabCAD was recently organised at NIC Bihar State Centre, Patna<br />
in collaboration with NIC Headquarters and Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt of Bihar. Eminent<br />
professors/ teachers from the engineering colleges and polytechnics participated in this programme. The basic objective<br />
of the programme was to promote CollabCAD Software in Engineering Colleges and Small and Medium Scale Industries<br />
and programme aimed at imparting training to educators and instructors who in turn would train the students and people in<br />
industries.<br />
The session was inaugurated by the Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Bihar. He also<br />
appreciated the efforts of NIC in spreading the knowledge of CAD software to education sector free of cost. Dr. B.K.<br />
Gairola, DG NIC delivered a key note address through Video Conferencing and stressed upon the utility of the software for<br />
small scale industries for designing and modelling of their products. Dr. Suhas, DDG, NIC HQ encouraged participants to<br />
use the software. Sh K. S. Nagesh, Technical Director, NIC HQ gave a detailed technical presentation on the CollabCAD<br />
software, explaining the features and applications of the software. He also conducted a 3 day Workshop cum Training<br />
program for the Professors/Teachers of Engineering Colleges and polytechnics.<br />

The GKP Event on the Future (GK3), was a unique gathering of<br />

makers, all geared to share knowledge and building<br />
partnerships on a platform created by and for stakeholders from<br />
every sector – private companies, governments, international<br />
institutions and civil society groups.<br />
Ms. Naina Pandita, Senior Technical Director, NIC was one of<br />
the facilitators in a workshop on Open Access: Sharing<br />
Research, Expanding Resources. In this practical workshop,<br />
panellists from Latin America, Asia and Africa showed how<br />
Open Access is a winning proposition for all by presenting their<br />
own, real experiences that equipped the participants with<br />
Discussing on how to get started with Open Access information, encouragement, and contacts to return to their own<br />
institutions as leaders in Open Access. The workshop was<br />
conducted in a World Café format wherein the participants interacted with each other and expressed their opinion.<br />

Sub-Registrar Office at Dibrugarh goes digital<br />
As part of the e-governance initiative of Dibrugarh District Administration in Assam, a formal inauguration of<br />
computerisation of e-registration (PANJIYAAN) was recently done by the Deputy Commissioner. The project has been<br />
implemented by NIC, Dibrugarh District Unit under the aegis of Dibrugarh District Administration. The State <strong>Informatics</strong><br />
Officer Sh. Deepak Goswami, STD and Sh. Debajeet Bhattacarya, Technical Director, NIC and other officials participated<br />
in the function.<br />
Under the old system, a user had to get registered on a particular day and would come back after 4 to 5 years for the original<br />
documents. However with this digitisation process a user can now get the documents on the same day within 45 minutes.<br />
