Dear Interested Community Member:
Renton Family Housing provides affordable, permanent housing for 24 low-income families with
special needs. Many of our families are formerly homeless and moved directly into our program
from shelters, their cars or were unable to afford their previous housing due to job loss, medical
emergencies, domestic violence or foreclosure. These families are working each day to rise
above the cycle of homelessness. Through our housing program we have seen many lives change
for the better. Our staff is committed to providing our families with resources, confidence, and
the skills they need to succeed.
When economic hard times hit, it affects formerly homeless and low-income families the
hardest. Many of our families are experiencing cuts in their hours and benefits or are losing their
jobs altogether. Access to technology is something many of us take for granted. In our
increasingly technology-dependent age, access to a computer and the Internet has become
essential. But many of our formerly homeless and low-income families cannot afford a computer
or Internet access in their home.
Renton Family Housing used to have a computer lab, but it was filled with extremely old and
outdated computers that were not even capable of conducting basic Internet searches. We
desperately want to update our computer lab by provided at least two new or newer computers
with basic programs such as Microsoft Office and Internet access for our families to use. This
computer lab would provide our families and their children a place to complete homework, look
up resources for their households and apply online for jobs.
But we need your help! You, your agency or company can help us by providing a financial
contribution toward our new computer lab, or by donating new or gently used computers or
software to our organization. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
