6.2 Flood History from <strong>Lake</strong>s in Northe<strong>as</strong>tern United States<br />
Noren et al. (2002) conducted a comprehensive study about millennial-scale<br />
periodicity <strong>of</strong> exceptional rainfall events in the northe<strong>as</strong>tern United States covering<br />
the entire Holocene. Unique in the design <strong>of</strong> this study is the stacking <strong>of</strong> the<br />
chronological occurrence <strong>of</strong> detrital layers from 13 individual lakes (Fig. 5a, b). This
