Selecky most recently served as President, CEO, Chairman, and member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Directors <strong>of</strong> LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, which she led from 1996 until 2009. Under her<br />
leadership, LifeMasters raised more than $60 million in venture capital, grew to $130 million<br />
in annual revenues, employed more than 1,200 people in seven locations, provided care<br />
and disease management and health improvement services to more than 1 million program<br />
participants nationwide, won numerous industry awards, and counted some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> largest and<br />
most well-respected health plans, employers, provider groups, labor unions, and government<br />
entities as its clients.<br />
A veteran in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> managed health care, her career began at FHP International<br />
Corporation, an entrepreneurial, privately held staff-model HMO. While at FHP, Selecky saw<br />
<strong>the</strong> company through its conversion, public <strong>of</strong>fering and rapid expansion. As president <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
FHP California Health Plan, she was responsible for revenues <strong>of</strong> $2.4 billion and building a<br />
customer base <strong>of</strong> nearly one million HMO and PPO members statewide. She has also served<br />
on <strong>the</strong> boards <strong>of</strong> both <strong>the</strong> California and New Mexico HMO Associations and The Medical<br />
Quality Commission.<br />
Selecky has been instrumental in driving <strong>the</strong> growth <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> health improvement industry<br />
through her leadership role with <strong>the</strong> Disease Management Association <strong>of</strong> America. She is a<br />
frequent speaker on <strong>the</strong> topics <strong>of</strong> disease management, <strong>the</strong> future <strong>of</strong> managed health care,<br />
privacy issues, and health care technology, and has been invited to testify before Congress on<br />
several occasions regarding care coordination for Medicare and Medicaid populations.<br />
Selecky received a master’s degree in public communication from <strong>the</strong> S.I. Newhouse School <strong>of</strong><br />
Communications at Syracuse University and a bachelor’s degree with high honors in political<br />
science and philosophy from <strong>the</strong> University<br />
<strong>of</strong> Delaware.<br />
Pamela Talkin, Secretary<br />
Pamela Talkin was sworn in on July 16, 2001 as <strong>the</strong> tenth Marshal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Supreme Court <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>United</strong> States. Talkin is <strong>the</strong> first woman to hold <strong>the</strong> position.<br />
The Marshal is appointed by <strong>the</strong> Court and oversees <strong>the</strong> security, operations and maintenance<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Supreme Court building. The Marshal’s most visible role is to attend all sessions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Court by “crying” <strong>the</strong> Court (announcing its arrival), ensure Courtroom security and decorum,<br />
and supervise Courtroom seating and recording <strong>of</strong> proceedings. The Marshal also manages<br />
<strong>the</strong> Court’s independent Police force as <strong>the</strong>y protect <strong>the</strong> building and provide security for<br />
<strong>the</strong> Justices, o<strong>the</strong>r Court employees and visitors; supervises and controls all property used<br />
and owned by <strong>the</strong> Court; acts as <strong>the</strong> superintendent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Court building; administers <strong>the</strong><br />
Court’s contracting and procurement activities; and signs checks and authorizes payment <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Court’s bills and salaries as a Treasury Disbursing Officer. In addition, <strong>the</strong> Marshal’s Office<br />
schedules, coordinates and oversees most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> approximately 1,000 lectures, receptions,<br />
dinners and o<strong>the</strong>r events that take place annually at <strong>the</strong> Supreme Court.<br />
