The First Graders had a lovely time out
and enjoyed themselves thoroughly at the
camp. They engaged themselves in various
fun filled games and activities like
monkey crawl, rock climbing, scout clap,
flying fox, rappelling and many more.
More pictures on camp will follow soon.

Unit of Inquiry
Students interviewed the staff in school to find the
meaning of –Community
They brainstormed and worked in
groups to make a collage on public
places and private places
Students inquired into
the meaning of words –Structure and Functions and made a
mind map on it

Students were shown a power point presentation on various
public places and they discussed the different functions
these places perform and inquired about the people who help
us in the community. This
was followed by a related
worksheet
The long vowel sound-
‘ow’ (owl, clown and
brown) and ‘ou’ (house,
loud, cloud and south) were
introduced, students
brainstormed, discussed and
created a list of words with
these sounds
Vowels were revised to develop students knowledge on
when to use ‘a’ and ‘an’
The months of the year -January, February, March, April,
May, June, July, August, September, October, November
and December were introduced through a rhyme
The seasons—summer, spring, autumn and winter were also
introduced under Time
They played a quiz ’Pointing Clock’, where students were
given flash cards to read , point at the time. They were
encouraged to draw and write the given time for an
analogue and a digital clock

Vocabulary related to time was introduced— o’clock, half past,
long hand , short hand, hour hand , minute hand, clockwise and
anticlockwise
Students were introduced to ‘ k’(aa ) matra. They built on their
vocabulary and formed two and three letter words with the
matra (standard level)
Listening and speaking skills were enhanced through rhymes with
letters ‘r’ and ‘Fk’
Students viewed a picture of a railway station, discussed and
brainstormed related vocabulary in Hindi
Students revised and wrote the days of the week in Hindi
Students built on their vocabulary of the letters ‘M’ ,‘Fk’ and ‘g’
and practised the letter formation (abinitio level)
Spelling Challenge
The next spelling challenge
will be on Monday,
27th ,February 2012 and
the words are remain the same as
last week as Friday was a holiday.
The words are: January, February,
March, April, May, June, July,
August, September, October,
November and December.
Cross Country Run At PATHWAYS
SCHOOL, GURGAON
Pathways School, Gurgaon is organising
a cross country run on Monday,
27 th Feb where all students of Grade
1-5 are participating. Students
should be dressed up in their house
t-shirt and sports uniform. The
physical education department, all
the teachers and primary school
principal will monitor this event.
The English and Hindi home work has been sent home in the notebook
UOI and Math homework has been sent in the folder
