Improving Operational Performance<br />

Reform, economics, <strong>and</strong> competition are all dem<strong>and</strong>ing a different approach to care delivery–an integrated, patient-centered, lower-cost model<br />

with improved clinical outcomes. How do we get there? This session will review the anticipated changes to care delivery models <strong>and</strong> the<br />

implications on operations. We will discuss the importance of linking operational priorities with organization strategy, highlight potential areas<br />

for operational improvement, <strong>and</strong> discuss the role of the various stakeholders in achieving the desired improvement. In addition, we will review<br />

proven methodologies for driving clinical <strong>and</strong> financial improvements <strong>and</strong> discuss the role of performance management tools to sustain the<br />

improvements.<br />

Meaningful Use – How to Get There<br />

Organizations pursuing meaningful use must first select <strong>and</strong> implement an EHR. Then you ask, “What should we do when implementing that EHR<br />

to help us meet meaningful use?” This session will explore practical things you can do to help your organization meet meaningful use. So much<br />

of meeting these requirements is about process, people, <strong>and</strong> how we do our work with technology acting as a support mechanism.<br />

The health care industry is entering an unprecedented period when current delivery <strong>and</strong> payment models will be transformed to produce<br />

improved quality of care. <strong>Rural</strong> hospitals will not be exempt from some aspects of public quality reporting, which incorporates financial <strong>and</strong><br />

outcome measures. This session will provide insight into financial reporting strategies to motivate <strong>and</strong> encourage efficient, quality care, <strong>and</strong> thus,<br />

ensure the ongoing viability of your organization.<br />

Common Findings Revealed: CAH Documentation <strong>and</strong> Billing Reviews<br />

We will present common findings that are uncovered when we perform documentation <strong>and</strong> billing reviews for CAHs. Often there are<br />

misunderst<strong>and</strong>ings regarding whether or not rules <strong>and</strong> regulations are applicable to CAHs (often they are!). We will present real examples,<br />

discuss the relevant regulations, <strong>and</strong> identify where they can be found.<br />
