Present employment
Is currently employed as a lecturer at the Sahlgrenska academy at University of Gothenburg
and as a clinical Speech and Language Pathologist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The
main interest in clinical work, teaching and research is speech disorders in patients born with
cleft lip and palate or genetic syndromes, mainly 22q11 deletion syndrome. Have been a
member of Gothenburg cleft palate team since 1991 and of the 22q11 deletion syndrome team
since 1997.
Teaching interests
Lectures on structural speech disorders in children and adolescents, and have research
seminars. Supervises master’s theses and a PhD student (Tove Johannisson).
Research interests
The research interest focus mainly on the project “Communicative participation in individuals
with isolated cleft palate or 22q11 deletion syndrome: impact of speech and language
impairment”. The aim of this project is to investigate speech, language and intelligibility in
10-year old children and in adolescents/young adults (16-19 years of age) born with isolated
cleft palate or 22q11 deletion syndrome. Another aim is to investigate the young adult’s
experience of communicative participation in daily life. Another interest is in assessment
methods of speech, including the influence of speech material on the prevalence of
compensatory articulation and assessment of intelligibility in children.
