We design quite 

a few Christmas 

collections each 

year at Anita 

Goodesign, choosing 

a name for them 

is often the most 

difficult part. Since 

we interact with 

our customers 

on Facebook, so 

often we decided 

to let you choose 

the name for this 

collection based on 

a preview of a few 

of the designs. The 

winner is “All that 

Jingles” which is perfect for this fun whimsical 

assortment of Christmas designs. There are all 

sorts of critters and objects in this collection, 

we chose bright colors and appliques for this 

collection and it is sure to bring a smile to 

anyone’s face this Holiday Season. There are 

25 different designs and most of them come in 

multiple sizes. Designs are for the 5’x7’ and 6” x 

10” hoop. 

“Christmas Mirror Blocks” 

Mix & Match/ Quilting Club 

We had so much 

fun designing 

our Halloween 

Mirror blocks 

collection that 

we immediately 

went to work 

on a Christmas 

version. We called 

this collection 

Christmas Mirror 

Blocks for a 

reason; each block 

is split down 

the middle and 

combines two 

unique fabrics for 

amazing results. Each of the blocks combine 

folded fabric techniques with standard 

applique. Both of the appliques are outlined 

with split satin stitches and finished of with 

a running stitch down the center of the satin 

stitch. The end result is stunning. Complete 

instructions for this technique are shown in the 

included tutorial. 

A lot of embroidery 

projects take a long 

time to create so 

every season we try 

to release at least one 

Christmas collection 

that can be completed 

quickly. Christmas 

Trios is such a 

collection. There are 

8 different themes 

in this collection 

and each theme has 

three designs in it, 

large, medium and 

small. While these 

designs can be used 

on anything we 

designed them for use on towel sets. Towel sets 

make the perfect gift for any home. The large 

design sits perfectly on a bath towel, the medium 

on a hand towel and the small on a fingertip towel. 

We used towels that we purchased at a bath store 

so we didn’t even have to add the trim. We used 

a heavy tear-away on the back of the towel and a 

wash away or heat away topping on the top. If you 

need further tips on embroidering towels there is a 

Home Decor tutorial located on the CD-Rom in the 

tutorials folder. Have a Merry Christmas! 

“Modern Free Motion” 

Mix & Match/ Quilting Club 

This collection consists 

of 22 modern patterns 

in 3 different ways. 

The first version uses 

a single pass running 

stitch that mimics free 

motion quilting. You 

can even add other 

embroidery designs 

right on top of them. 

The second version is 

a triple running stitch 

for a bolder effect! 

The third version is 

truly awesome; it is a 

combination of both 

stitches. It is a new 

technique we came up with completely by accident. 

We are calling this technique stitch blending, it gives 

the designs a unique tint by mixing two thread colors. 

The included tutorial on the disc covers all of the 

techniques in detail.

pillowcase is a fast and easy turn-a-tube method that finishes off all of the seams, no 

more raw seam allowances or frayed fabric! Collection has 26 letters in 2 sizes each 12, 

sidepiece designs and 4 small flower designs for the 5”x7” hoop.

Tips, Tricks & Ideas 

Here at Anita Goodesign we are always looking 

for the latest trends in the world of embroidery. 

We have noticed that embroidery on clothing 

is making a come back! So, that inspired us 

to give you some tips for embroidering on 

garments. We also have a product line titled 

Anita Goodesign Fashion Collections. Go to 

our website and take a look at all our beautiful 

fashion collections. These collections were 

designed with fashion clothing in mind and 

the designs were all tested on garments to 

guarantee perfect embroidery results. 

Here are some of our fashion rules and tips. 

1. Start with a quality garment 

The better the garment, the better your end result 

will be. Cheap clothing generally 

doesn’t have good sewing techniques to begin with 

and are made using cheaper grades of 

fabric which don’t hold embroidery well. 

2. Don’t be afraid to use your seam ripper! 

A lot of the techniques we use will require you to open 

up seams and literally take your 

garment apart. You have an embroidery machine that 

costs thousand of dollars don’t be 

afraid to rip apart a $50.00 pair of jeans. Besides, 

ripping apart is easy, its putting it back 

together that’s tough! 

3. Experiment! 

Creating your own custom garment will require experimenting with different fabrics 

and embellishing techniques. Don’t be afraid to try something new.

Tips, Tricks & Ideas 


Combining Multiple Embroideries 

Combining multiple embroidery designs to create a scene is probably something you’ve 

done in the past, but how about actually layering the designs on top of each other? 

Layering the designs is a technique you will see a lot of in the fashion collections. 

We mostly layer running stitch designs with fully embroidered elements to create 

dimensional results. The illustrations below show this technique. There is no right or 

wrong way to layer these designs, it is all a matter of taste. You can either layer the 

designs in your embroidery software and stitch them all at once or for larger areas 

embroider each one separately. 

The running stitch design is embroidered first. 

The scroll is embroidered second. 

The roses are embroidered last.

club for quilting.
