inpatient services, and ii) indirect costs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> service (informal payments to obtain <strong>the</strong> service, cost<br />

<strong>of</strong> food during <strong>the</strong> stay in hospital, etc.).<br />

To conclude, we would like to mention in what follows fur<strong>the</strong>r steps for <strong>the</strong> analysis:<br />

1. Take into account <strong>the</strong> potential influence <strong>of</strong> family and social network in health care services<br />

utilization. The empirical literature show that in poor settings family and social ties might<br />

have a relevant role in hindering or enhancing <strong>the</strong> adoption <strong>of</strong> better health care practice.<br />

2. Extend <strong>the</strong> analysis to <strong>the</strong> effect <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reform on child health to explore also potential<br />

intergenerational benefit.<br />
