Registration is on a firstcome,first-served basis in the order that payment<br />

is received. Payment is expected at the time of Registration. All registrations<br />

will be confirmed. If you do not receive a confirmation within two<br />

weeks of sending payment, please call 718.886.3800 ext. 229.<br />

Cancellations & Refunds If registration for a session is closed due to full<br />

enrollment, the <strong>Garden</strong> will refund your fee. If you must cancel after<br />

registering, notify the Children’s <strong>Garden</strong> at ext. 229 at least five business<br />

days before the start of the session, and the <strong>Garden</strong> will refund<br />

your fee, minus a $10 registration fee. Refunds for cancellations less<br />

than five days prior to the start of the session will be issued only if a<br />

registrant from a waiting list will fill the space. No refunds or credits are<br />

issued after a garden session begins.<br />

Kids Dig It!


The HSBC Children’s <strong>Garden</strong> at the<br />

<strong>Queens</strong> <strong>Botanical</strong> <strong>Garden</strong> (QBG)<br />

offers hands-on discovery for children<br />

ages 5 - 12. The program encourages<br />

fun and learning about plants,<br />

gardens and nature—in a<br />

beautiful environment.<br />

SPRING<br />

Each spring, children’s imaginations<br />

and learning blossom as they:<br />

• Plant vegetables and flowers<br />

• Harvest lettuce, spinach and radishes<br />

• Visit the bee garden and design a<br />

fantasy garden space<br />

• Make Mother’s Day cards with paper they’ve<br />

made seeded with parsley and basil<br />

March 28 - June 13<br />

SUMMER<br />

When summer arrives, fun and learning<br />

heat up, as children:<br />

• Make salads from their spring vegetable plantings<br />

• Bake cookies in a solar oven and learn about<br />

climate and environment<br />

• Raise and release butterflies;<br />

• Plant healthy and delicious summer vegetables<br />

• Conduct scavenger hunts, build planters<br />

and terrariums and lots more!<br />

Mondays & Wednesdays, 9 am – 4 pm<br />

FALL<br />

The leaves changing color doesn’t signal the end<br />

of discovery at QBG. In the fall session, children<br />

learn seasonal gardening, such as how to:<br />

• Put a garden to sleep<br />

• Plant garlic bulbs, and harvest tomatoes, peppers<br />

and spinach—Yum!<br />

• Make food from our crops, such as hummus<br />

• Learn about the red tail hawk & other <strong>Garden</strong> animals.<br />

September 5 – September 26<br />

Saturdays, 9:30 am – Noon<br />

Fee: $160 (10% discount for family members)<br />

Children’s <strong>Garden</strong> enjoys lead support<br />

from HSBC Bank USA, N.A.<br />

Additional support has been provided by the New York City<br />

Department of Cultural Affairs; the Zoos, <strong>Botanical</strong> <strong>Garden</strong>s, and<br />

Aquariums Grant Program of the New York State Office of Parks,<br />
