CATEGORY:<br />
Full Time – 38 hours per week. (On a rostered basis over a<br />
four week 152 hour period)<br />
1. POSITION OBJECTIVES<br />
- To supervise all aspects pertaining to the operation and use of on stage<br />
and backstage facilities and the associated theatrical effects at Mandurah<br />
Performing Arts Centre (MPAC)<br />
- Effective and safe use of all technical aspects of the venue by<br />
MPAC staff and client organisations<br />
- Assisting clients to reach the optimum performance and audience<br />
satisfaction<br />
- Supervision of casual technical staff and volunteers<br />
- Liaise with the Operations Manager to ensure that the requirements of all<br />
MPAC’s clients are clearly understood.<br />
- Liaise with production personnel of hiring and entrepreneurial<br />
organisations, prior to and on their arrival, ensuring a safe and efficient<br />
set up, and, effective and efficient running of a production to the hirers<br />
requirements.<br />

- Supervise and assist with bump ins and bump outs of all hiring events,<br />
ensuring the tasks are expedited with safety and to remain accountable<br />
for the theatre’s inventory of fixed and portable equipment.<br />
- Supervise the venue, and alternate between operating its lighting, stage,<br />
sound and audio visual equipment, as may be required for rehearsals and<br />
performance.<br />
- Assist and instruct suitable clients and volunteers as may be required for<br />
rehearsals and performance use of the venue.<br />
- Attend to immediate and necessary maintenance and adjustments to the<br />
building, plant and theatre equipment to ensure the theatre operates<br />
effectively as a <strong>performing</strong> <strong>arts</strong> venue, is well presented to the public and<br />
complies with the relevant statutory requirements.<br />
- Perform such duties as may be reasonably required by the Technical<br />
Supervisor.<br />
2. SELECTION CRITERIA<br />
Specialist Knowledge and Skills<br />
AUDIO<br />
Strong demonstrated experience, in the set up and operation with a range of live<br />
audio performance and associated equipment<br />
LIGHTING<br />
Demonstrated experience in the set up and operation of theatrical lighting and<br />
effects<br />
STAGE MECHANIST<br />
Demonstrated experience or knowledge in the safe operation of a single<br />
purchase, counter weighted flying system, <strong>inc</strong>luding rigging of sets.<br />
STAGE<br />
Demonstrated experience or knowledge in Stage Management and operation as<br />
relates to a Performing Arts Centre.<br />
Qualifications and Experience<br />
Sound computer skills of programs used in an office environment<br />
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team<br />
environment<br />
An appropriate TAFE or equivalent certificate or diploma or demonstrated<br />
industry experience<br />

Demonstrated experience or knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health<br />
issues in a venue<br />
Current Level 2 Workplace First Aid qualification or willing to obtain qualification<br />
Current Drivers License<br />
Demonstrated experience or a license to operate a EWP or be prepared to obtain<br />
such a license.<br />
Possess a current Riggers License or be prepared to obtain such a license<br />

4. ACCOUNTABILITY<br />
Authority over, and be responsible for the supervision of all personnel<br />
(employees of the Centre or of the client organisation) working with the Centre’s<br />
technical equipment or working backstage in the Centre.<br />
Remain conversant with the Centre’s condition of use and consequently make<br />
judgements as to the safety and cleanliness backstage and directing<br />
subordinates or hirers staff to rectify unsatisfactory situations.<br />
Determine the safety of equipment or effects at the Centre and of that brought in<br />
by hiring organisations, and decide on the repair or removal of faulty equipment.<br />

whom the Technical Officer believes jeopardises the safety of the theatre, its<br />
