Brassworks 4 <strong>Sheet</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Sales offers a large variety of brass solo and ensemble music for<br />

all instrumentation including brass duet, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet, septet, octet, brass<br />

choir, brass band and concert band. Our catalog of 9000+ titles include music suitable for a<br />

wedding, church or sacred hymn services, Christmas or holiday concerts, patriotic and civic<br />

events, parties... the list is endless.<br />

Solo pieces for Trumpet, Cornet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium and Tuba include<br />

piano or organ accompaniment, unaccompanied works, and string ensemble or orchestra<br />

accompaniment. For our woodwind friends, we offer solo and ensemble music for Flute,<br />

Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon and Saxophone.<br />

We offer music in every grade level from beginners, to intermediate and through advanced<br />

players. College players and professionals find many titles matching their ability. We carry<br />

method books, studies and etudes for your private lesson and home practice sessions.<br />

Score and sound samples are provided on many items. This enables you to determine the<br />

difficulty level and appropriateness before you purchase.<br />

Together from 1994-2003, Brassworks 4 has<br />

entertained hundreds of audiences from New<br />

York, NY to San Francisco, CA. Take a "walk"<br />

through this photo gallery and share our<br />

memories with us. We've had many laughs and<br />

smiles along the way. We will always treasure<br />

you, our audience - you were a hoot to<br />

entertain!


Paul Bara<br />

Paul Bara, founding member of Brassworks 4, was born and raised<br />

in Jersey City, NJ. He studied under Ardash Marderosian at<br />

Roosevelt University in Chicago where he earned his BM in 1978.<br />

His studies continued in New York with John Swallow and Per<br />

Brevig. From 1980 to 1992, Mr. Bara was principal trombonist with<br />

the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra. As a freelance player, he<br />

performed with New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, United Nations<br />

Symphony, Brooklyn College Symphony and numerous Off-<br />

Broadway productions. After operating a piano rebuilding business<br />

for twelve years, he and his wife Deborah "escaped" to the west.<br />

They now reside in Aztec, NM. Paul owns and operates "Baratone,"<br />

piano tuning and rebuilding. He teaches trombone, euphonium and tuba at Ft. Lewis<br />

College in Durango, CO.<br />

Michael (Mick) Hesse<br />

Brassworks 4 founding member Michael (Mick) Hesse, cornet &<br />

piccolo trumpet, has an extensive background in professional<br />

orchestral performance as a member of the Norwegian State<br />

Opera and Ballet Orchestra from 1973-1984. Mr. Hesse has<br />

performed with the Oslo Philharmonic, Norwegian Broadcasting<br />

Orchestra & Buffalo Philharmonic, and with <strong>Music</strong> in the<br />

Mountains in Colorado. He taught trumpet and brass ensembles<br />

at the Norwegian <strong>Music</strong> Conservatory. Mick was also a member<br />

of the USMA Band at West Point and the Jack Daniel's Original<br />

Silver Cornet Band. A graduate of Eastman School of <strong>Music</strong> (BM)<br />

and the University of Illinois (MM), Mr. Hesse taught at the Universities of Illinois and<br />

Kentucky.<br />

Scott Ramsey<br />

Scott Ramsey, founding member of Brassworks 4, was a graduate of<br />

UNM in Albuquerque and Northern Arizona in Flagstaff. Mr. Ramsey<br />

taught high school band for 26 years and has performed extensively<br />

throughout his career. He was inducted into the New Mexico <strong>Music</strong><br />

Teachers Hall of Fame in January of 2003. He was active as a private<br />

teacher in his studios in Farmington, NM and played in the San Juan<br />

Symphony, the Four Corner's Brass Band, the Jeff Solon Swing Band<br />

and the Red Apple Flyer Dixieland Band. Mr. Ramsey has written over<br />

50 arrangements for brass quartet as well as several original


compositions. Mr. Ramsey wrote and arranged music for brass quartet, quintet, choirs,<br />

stage band and brass band. Scott lived part time in Farmington, NM and part time in San<br />

Carlos, Mexico.<br />

Connie Frerich - Schulz<br />

Connie Frerich-Schulz is a Poplar High School graduate from<br />

Poplar, Montana. She attended the College of Great Falls in<br />

Great Falls MT, transferred and graduated from Minot State<br />

University with a degree in <strong>Music</strong> Education. Upon completing<br />

her degree, Ms. Schulz taught music in grades K-12 at Bainville<br />

Schools in north-east Montana. She studied euphonium with<br />

Harold Brasch. She has appeared as soloist with the San Juan<br />

College Concert Band in Farmington NM and was a guest artist<br />

& soloist with San Juan Symphony. Ms Schulz is a member of<br />

the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band in Silverton, CO<br />

and the Yankee Brass Band of New England. She is principal<br />

euphonium with Concordia Santa Fe. She was the<br />

Administrative Director of Showcase Concerts from 1997-2003 and director of Showcase<br />

Kids. When giving her chops a break, Connie can be found singing alto in Caliente and<br />

traveled to Ireland with the choir in July 2009. She is a founding member of Brassworks 4,<br />

playing euphonium until their retirement from the stage in 2003. Connie is the music<br />

director at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington. She is the owner and operator of<br />

Brassworks 4 <strong>Sheet</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Sales and has enjoyed the role of "web master." She is married<br />

and has two grown children, Drew and Shelby. Connie is active in learning more about<br />

Autism Spectrum Disorders and also Multiple Sclerosis.<br />
