Dr. Nitsana Spigland has been appointed to the position of Chief of Pediatric Surgery and<br />
Pediatric Trauma at <strong>New</strong><strong>York</strong>-Presbyterian/<strong>Weill</strong> <strong>Cornell</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Center. She plays an<br />
active role in education as the associate director of medical student education for the Department<br />
of Surgery. Dr. Spigland is board certified in both general surgery and pediatric<br />
surgery. She specializes in complex neonatal congenital malformaties, pediatric thoracic<br />
surgery, pediatric surgical oncology and advanced minimal access surgery. A graduate of<br />
<strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>College</strong>, Dr. Spigland completed her general surgery residency at Lenox<br />
Hill Hospital, NY, and her fellowship in pediatric surgery at St. Justine’s Children’s Hospital,<br />
in Montreal, Canada. She has authored or co-authored numerous publications in peerreviewed<br />
journals, and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the American Journal of Perinatology,<br />
the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Spigland is a<br />
fellow of the American <strong>College</strong> of Surgeons, a member of the American Pediatric Surgical<br />
Associations, the Canadian Pediatric Surgical Association, the <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> Surgical Society<br />
and the Children’s Cancer Study Group.<br />
