Opportunities to Grow
For more than 20 years Opportunity
Enterprises, Inc. has promoted selfsufficiency
and provided life
choices for challenged individuals of all
ages. Each year OE serves more than
1,000 people with disabilities, providing
a variety of services including
intervention programs for children,
transition services for high school
students, sheltered workshops, and
employment placement services. As the
community and its needs grow,
Opportunity Enterprises continues to step
up and meet the challenge.
As part of the effort, OE added its newest
facility in 2008. Lakeside Opportunities
is located on the shores of Lake Eliza,
complete with a 13,000 square foot
facility and 158 acres of lake frontage,
rolling hills, and natural meadowland.
Today it successfully serves 110 adults
with disabilities. Yet Lakeside
Opportunities has the potential to do
even more.
A $5,000 grant from the Porter County
Community Foundation will assist OE in
qualifying for federal funding that will
provide a master plan for the new
facility. “Lakeside Opportunities has the
potential to become a nationally
recognized model for programs and
services for individuals with disabilities,”
said Gary Mitchell, President and CEO
for Opportunity Enterprises.
