Since 1991, the Intelligent Transportation Society of America has
been the foremost advocate for the development and deployment
of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in the U.S. Our members
include private corporations, public agencies, academic institutions
and research centers, and while our members have diverse interests,
they share a common goal: to improve the safety, mobility,
and economic and energy efficiency of the nation’s transportation
system through the deployment of ITS.

The Safety Forum
The Safety Forum considers
advancements in research and
deployment of ITS safety systems
in response to a comprehensive,
research-based view of national
needs for new solutions. It
collaboratively supports and promotes
the demonstration and deployment
of promising technology-rich safety
systems and contributes to the
development of national deployment
policies and technological standards.
Commercial Vehicle and
Freight Mobility Forum
Referred to as the CVFM, this Forum
brings together public and private
sector representatives to promote
the development and deployment of
commercial vehicle and intermodal
freight technologies and systems
that save lives, time and money;
enhance quality of life; and strengthen
homeland security in North America.
Through strong connections to key
state, regional, international, and
industry partners and associations
the CVFM provides policy guidance
and addresses critical questions
regarding emerging technologies
and information systems.

ITS America’s Forums continued
Sustainable Transportation
Working Group
This multi-faceted group collects,
exchanges and evaluates data and
information to better understand the
relationships between transportation
systems, traveler behavior and
climate change. Besides simply
tracking the latest legislation on
climate change and sustainable
transportation, this group brings
together a diverse collection of
professionals that work together
to inform the public, policymakers
and lawmakers about the capability
of transportation technologies
and operational strategies.
Personal Mobility Forum
The Personal Mobility Forum addresses
the challenges of deploying, operating
and maintaining transportation systems
focused on the movement of people in
both urban and rural environments.
The Forum’s members come from a
variety of backgrounds—university
transportation research centers,
state and local transportation
agencies, and private sector
engineering firms—to develop
innovative solutions and identify
research and performance measure
needs in freeway, arterial, transit,
urban and rural transportation systems.
Cross-Cutting Forum
Looking for a Forum that covers issues
that are relevant across the ITS
industry Look no further than the
Cross-Cutting Forum, a diverse group
of transportation professionals that
focus on projects associated with
the broader scope of ITS. The Cross-
Cutting Forum has a number of
committees that assess research,
development and deployment needs.
