timer to turn off the unit when you are not at home & turn on before you arrive.

Perform regular maintenance on your air conditioning unit. Replace the filter monthly during the cool season &
have a professional service your system at the beginning of each cool season.
Make sure your air conditioning condenser is located in a shaded spot & has room to dispose of hot air removed
from your house. Don't crowd it with shrubs or other obstacles.
Plant shades, trees & shrubs around your house to help reduce the heat of the sun, especially on the west & south
sides. This can reduce your cooling costs by up to 30%.
Set the fan speed on high except in very humid weather. When it's humid, set the fan speed on low. You'll
get better cooling & slower air movement through the cooling equipment. This in turn permits the removal of
moisture from the air, resulting in greater comfort.
Help your air conditioner "breathe easier." Clean or replace the filter at least once a month this summer. A filter
clogged with dust, pollen or soot "smothers" the air conditioner & wastes energy & your money. Let your monthly
electric bill be your regular reminder to clean or change the filter.
