CONFERENCE AT NYAS<br />
The first major conference discussing<br />
recent reports on the relationship <strong>of</strong> bisphosphonate<br />
treatment with osteonecrosis<br />
<strong>of</strong> the jaw (ONJ) was held at the<br />
National Academy <strong>of</strong> Sciences, 7 World<br />
Trade Center, on May 17. Initiated by<br />

for the conference committee was<br />
to encourage the initiation and facilitation<br />
<strong>of</strong> multidisciplinary collaboration<br />

center students. The Academy’s mission,<br />
inspired by Dr. Garvey’s career, is<br />
to recognize excellence, reward<br />
achievement, and promote innovation<br />
among faculty members at the Medical<br />
Center. The CDM Garvey Fellows are:<br />

move research forward,” the event was<br />
attended by 140 dentists, physicians,<br />
research scientists, and students, who<br />
came from medical centers throughout<br />
the nation and the world.<br />

sad to report the loss <strong>of</strong> three<br />
esteemed Pr<strong>of</strong>essors Emeriti during<br />
the 2006-<strong>2007</strong> academic year:<br />

(December 13, 2006); AUSTIN<br />
KUTSCHER '46, (May 30, <strong>2007</strong>); and<br />
NICHOLAS DI SALVO '45, ORTHO '57,<br />
(June 8, <strong>2007</strong>). Further information<br />
