Business Development Manager – Timber, Doors & Joinery<br />
Reporting To<br />
Business Development Manager, with major input into the Product<br />
Management team<br />

Stoneferry Road, Hull – Central Support Services, but a great deal of<br />
time will be spent out at the branches<br />
Main Purpose<br />
To further develop & then support the implementation of our<br />
strategy of increasing & maximising sales and margins of your<br />
product categories throughout the branch network, by; having the<br />
right product on the ground, recruiting and retaining the right<br />
customer base, liaising with suppliers to help train and develop<br />
branch personnel in their product ranges, assisting staff recruitment<br />
where applicable<br />
Duties & Responsibilities To continually review sales and margins of relevant product<br />
categories to ensure branch and group goals and targets are<br />
met<br />
To support and help product managers assess suppliers and<br />
product ranges and constantly tweak according to customer<br />
needs and trends in the marketplace<br />
To support product managers in securing excellent Group terms<br />
and deals with suppliers and help secure where possible,<br />
contract and special sale support in branch<br />
To provide regular and consistent management information to<br />
help assess performance of the relevant product groups at<br />
branch and group level<br />
To continually review and provide information on what is<br />
happening with competitors and their pricing within the<br />
marketplace<br />
To carry out market research, competitor analysis and customer<br />
surveys in support of marketing activities<br />
To agree with central services and the branch, a stock profile<br />
which will maximize sales and customer service to agreed<br />
customer target base.<br />
To support branch personnel and marketing by helping identify<br />
and target customer groups, send out mailshots and<br />
promotional information through all forms of digital and non<br />
digital media<br />
To train and develop branch personnel in product categories
and to regularly review level of expertise<br />
To constantly review & monitor new & existing suppliers and<br />
provide feedback to Product Managers<br />
With marketing, plan and coordinate all trade days and event<br />
activities, ensuring plans are communicated to relevant<br />
personnel.<br />
Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant<br />
management information<br />
To provide input and support to online activities in relevant<br />
product categories<br />
Liaise with other internal departments as necessary to perform<br />
duties and to aid business development.<br />
To attend training and development courses and events to<br />
grow knowledge and skills<br />
KPI’s Achievement of Sales and Margins targets in key product<br />
categories<br />

Experience of Branch Operations in a multi-site location<br />
business at middle to senior management level<br />
Sales experience in one or more of the key categories<br />
Product management & training experience beneficial but not<br />
essential
