Nanyang Technological University (NTU) was established in 1981 and has almost<br />

30,000 students. Nanyang is located approximately 15 miles from <strong>the</strong> city center <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Singapore</strong>. The Nanyang exchange is <strong>the</strong> only program where accountancy students can<br />

have accountancy courses transfer. The NTU accounting courses use International<br />

Financial Reporting Standards as opposed to <strong>the</strong> U.S. NTU is also open to nonaccountancy<br />

majors, but those students cannot take accountancy courses at Nanyang.<br />

<strong>Singapore</strong> is an island nation with 5 million people located between Malaysia and Indonesia. It<br />

has a tropical rainforest climate. <strong>Singapore</strong> is a very interesting place to study business and has<br />

an abundance <strong>of</strong> multinational firms. It is <strong>the</strong> 4th leading financial center in <strong>the</strong> world and has<br />

<strong>the</strong> 4th highest GDP. English is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 4 <strong>of</strong>ficial languages <strong>of</strong> <strong>Singapore</strong>.<br />

Housing<br />

Nanyang Technological University has fifteen residence halls.<br />

Application Process<br />

Apply online at www.studyabroad.illinois.edu to BUS Exchange: Nanyang Technological University<br />

(NTU)- Nanyang <strong>Business</strong> School (NBS) by February 15th to study abroad <strong>the</strong> following fall and<br />

by September 15th to study abroad <strong>the</strong> following spring.<br />
