BUSINESS COUNCIL OF BRITISH COLUMBIA APPOINTS HANK KETCHAM CEO OF WEST FRASER TIMBER
AS NEW CHAIR AT 46 TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
May 23, 2012 (Vancouver, BC) – On May 15 th , the Business Council of British Columbia appointed British
Columbia Business Laureate, Hank Ketcham, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, West Fraser, as the
new Chair of the Business Council for a two-year term.
“I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of the Business Council of British Columbia,” Ketcham
said during his first address as Chair. “We need to work together as business, communities, first nations,
environmentalists and governments to ensure we are leaving a sustainable and robust economy that
supports our children and the kind of society we want.”
“We do this to ensure we collectively share in prosperity through unlocking British Columbia’s full
potential – and I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with all of you to reach this potential,”
concluded Ketcham.
The Business Council expressed their sincere appreciation to Graham MacLachlan, Regional President,
BC, RBC Royal Bank who concluded his four year term as Chair of the Council and will continue on the
Executive Committee as the Immediate Past Chair.

During the Annual General Meeting, the membership of the Business Council also appointed a new
Executive Committee and Board of Governors. As reported by the outgoing Chair, the Business Council
membership is now the largest in the history of the organization with 27 new member companies over
the last year from across British Columbia’s major industries including mining, forestry, tourism, real
estate, retail, technology, professional services, transportation and infrastructure, education and
energy.

The Business Council of British Columbia, now in its 46th year as the premier business organization in
BC, represents over 250 leading companies and enterprises in every key sector of the economy. Our
membership, found throughout every region of BC, represents one quarter of all jobs in the province.

Mr. Henry H. (Hank) Ketcham Biography
Hank Ketcham is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd., a North American
forest products company which employs approximately 7,000 people in BC, Alberta and eight states in
the southern United States. The integrated forest products company is one of the largest lumber
producers in North America and also produces wood chips, LVL, MDF, plywood, pulp and newsprint.
Mr. Ketcham started with West Fraser in 1973 and worked in various mill level and management
positions. In 1985, Mr. Ketcham was elected President and Chief Executive Officer and in 1996 he was
elected Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
In May of 2012, Mr. Ketcham was appointed Chair of the Business Council of British Columbia. He also
serves on various boards including the BC Jobs and Investment Board, the Softwood Lumber Board, the
Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and was the
former Chairman of the Council of Forest Industries (COFI). Mr. Ketcham is also a Director of the
Toronto-Dominion Bank.
