<strong>The</strong> 2013 PICA risk management section will focus on patient selection<br />

to improve likelihood of success and decrease risk of litigation in podiatric<br />

surgery. <strong>The</strong> attendee will be presented with tools to help identify the<br />

possible problem patient and observe possible means of managing<br />

these individuals that will lead to mutually successful outcomes for the<br />

patient and surgeon alike. Management of the history and informed<br />

consent process as well as a discussion of “red flag” warning signs that<br />

may be indicators of future problems to come will be reviewed.<br />
