System Audio’s very first loudspeakers were 

greeted with amazement in 1984. An astounded 

press wrote: "These loudspeakers set 

new standards." Not just in terms of sound, 

but in terms of size. Why Because back 

then people firmly believed a loudspeaker 

had to be big and technically complex to be 

any good. Unlike every other high-quality 

loudspeaker, our first product was a small, 

compact unit that delivered a truly massive 

sound. It was a loudspeaker inspired by a 

genuine fascination for great sound – not 

technology. It was a loudspeaker that dared 

to be different.

The story of System Audio starts with the fact 

that I used to be a musician. And being a 

musician, I know how music should sound. 

Back in the early 80’s I spent a long time 

searching for loudspeakers that could accurately 

reproduce the sound instruments really 

make when they are played live. 

But everything I listened to sounded dull and 

synthetic. The only thing the manufacturers 

seemed to compete about was having the 

best technical data. But for me it was the 

sound that mattered. If people can’t hear the 

fine details or sense the atmosphere because 

the reproduction is so poor, how can they ever 

discover how exciting music can really be 

That’s when I decided to build my own loudspeakers. 

Since then we’ve come a long way. 

Today System Audio A/S is a company with a 

reputation for being at the forefront of loudspeaker 

innovation. We develop new technology 

– but not for its own sake. Instead we 

combine it with radical new ideas to bring

In a world where trends in technology seem to change with the seasons, 

SA loudspeakers are based on an enduring set of fundamental 

scientific principles. 

Sound is the most important product of any quality sound system. 

Unlike the rest of the system however, loudspeakers tackle the unique 

challenge of transforming digital or electronic signals into physical 

reality. Because they are simply electrons, the signals produced by an 

amplifier, a DVD or a CD are extremely fast and precise. The sound 

that comes out of a loudspeaker however, is made by a membrane 

that moves. The weight of the membrane therefore has an incredible 

influence on the precision of the sound that a loudspeaker is able to 

produce.

SA loudspeakers are much faster than ordinary loudspeakers because 

we use smaller and lighter membranes that weigh a quarter of an 

ordinary piece of paper or less. Compared to what we use, a standard 

loudspeaker membrane often weighs twice as much. This huge difference 

greatly increases the quality of the sound we can produce.

Light membranes react extremely quickly, revealing a wealth of detail 

that a heavy membrane would muffle. That’s why our bass sounds 

never rumble, the instruments sound clear and dynamic, and it is easy 

to understand what people are singing or saying.

all types of music, as well as film soundtracks.

loudspeakers deliver an amazing sound experience that far eclipses 

their physical dimensions. The most important factor for us at SA is the 

quality of sound our loudspeakers deliver. That’s why the only thing a 

compact loudspeaker from SA has in common with conventional compact 

loudspeakers is size. 

The majority of our compact loudspeakers are also available in an AV 

version. This means they are configured for use as a center channel 

speaker in your home cinema system. The advantage of this is that 

you can choose loudspeakers with identical sound quality everywhere 

in your home cinema. 

For example, all our compact loudspeakers are finished in genuine 

wood. They are also prepared for use with specially designed wall and 

ceiling brackets, as well as floor stands. This simplifies installation

The built-in amplifier features a massive power supply, enabling it to 

deliver really huge effects. The woofer’s magnet is at least twice as 

big as those used in ordinary active subwoofers. The cabinet is made 

from 25 mm finished MDF to ensure optimal stability. The front and the 

bottom of the cabinet are also reinforced in thickness (35 and 50 mm
