GustoMSC Rack and Pinion
jacking systems
Electrical Variable Speed Driven Rack and
Pinion
The GustoMSC jacking system offers safety, minimum
maintenance and a variety of outstanding features from
the operation point of view.
The range of jacking systems suits the GustoMSC CJ- and
NG-series and can be easily customized to any other jackup
rig design.
Jacking units
Each jacking unit consists of a special design, 7 teeth
pinion, driven by an electric motor through an input- and
planetary gearbox.
In general, four or six jacking units, assembled in a floating
jacking frame, engage with a rack of the jack-up legs. The
floating jacking frame is equipped with rubber pads on
upper and lower end, allowing the units to follow the rack.
In the rubber pads, load measuring devices can be
incorporated.
Alternatively, the units are mounted in a fixed jacking
structure, depending on the overall jack-up design.
The jacking system is also suitable for working with the
GustoMSC fixation system.
Variable Speed Drive
The electric motors of the rack and pinion systems are
driven by individual variable speed drives (VSD’s). This
arrangement allows for stepless speed control between
zero and maximum speed.
The system automatically distributes the loads equally
over the drive units and retorqing can be performed
automatically by the VSD control.
Jacking velocities
Maximum jacking velocities vary from 0.3 m/min to 1.2 m/
min for platform handling. For leg handling, the speed can
be increased with typically 50%.
Model range
