45. Sea Approaches<br />

a. Offshore Approaches. The offshore approaches are usually of<br />

interest only to naval forces and therefore are not, described in the<br />

terrain study. When description is necessary, a hydrographic chart<br />

may be utilized.<br />

b. Nearshore Approaches. The nearshore approaches are of primary<br />

interest to landing forces and, as such, require a detailed<br />

description.<br />

(1) The description in the text presents a general evaluation of<br />

the nearshore area, and describes bottom conditions and the<br />

effect of sea, surf, tides and currents. Also described are any<br />

special phenomena such as sea vegetation thick enough to<br />
