II. SECONDARY EDUCATION Secondary education is the period during which students take decisions regarding their career and future. According to the National Policy on Education, strengthening secondary education will provide human resource that will contribute to the economic development of the country. Gender Differentials in Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools (Class IX-XII) The enrollment of girls in secondary and higher secondary schools is much lower than that for the primary schools: girls constituted 29% of all enrollments in secondary schools in the State in the academic year 2004-05 (Figure-8).
