TMT
(Thermo
Mechanically
Treated)
Sujana TMT (Thermo Mechanically
Treated) bar is rolled out of the world’s
proven “Tempcore” technology from CRM,
Belgium. The process involves 3 stages of
treatment - Quenching, Self-tempering
and Atmospheric Cooling. Sujana TMT is
processed on a world class cooling bed,
one of the finest and the largest in the
country. It is this process that gives Sujana
TMT its unmatched qualities.
Stage 1 - The reheated billet first
gets rolled and is passed through the
quenching process where the surface of
the bar is instantly cooled to martensite
while the core is still austenitic.
Stage 2 - Heat from the core of the bar
dissipates to the surface allowing to form
tempered martensite, while the core
remains austenitic. This process is called
‘self-tempering.”
Stage 3 - Due to atmospheric cooling,
wherein the bar is cooled on the cooling
bed, results in the austenitic core
being converted into ductile ferritepearlite
core, which gives Sujana TMT
its unmatched qualities of strength and
ductility.
Sujana TMT: In-built strengths
Sujana TMT finds wide application for a number
of high-specialty and custom construction. Its
high-corrosion and rust- resistance features
make it the first choice for buildings in costal
areas and in areas of high humidity. Its ductility
and bendability on the other hand, makes it the
perfect choice for buildings in seismic zones for
high-stress construction structures.
The uniqueness of Sujana TMT
• Higher strength
• Higher UTS / Yield ratio (enhanced elongation)
• Higher fatigue strength
• Higher resistance to heat
• Higher resistance to corrosion
• Excellent weldability
• Excellent ductility
Applications
Sujana TMT bars find wide application in
different spheres including coastal and
marine environments which are susceptible
to corrosion.
• General-purpose concrete
reinforcement structures (eg. Homes,
Apartments, etc)
• Hospitals
• Hotels
• Auditoriums
• Bridges, Dams and Flyovers
• Thermal & Hydel Power Plants
• Industrial Structures
• High-rise buildings
• Construction in Earthquake-sensitive
zones
• Underground platforms in Metro
Railways and Rapid Transport Systems
