Betz Ophthalmology Associates,
has joined the Penn State Hershey
Medical Center staff as an Associate
Professor of Ophthalmology. He has
also completed the ophthalmology
certified preparatory course at Wills
Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA.
CHARLES P. FASANO, DO, a
physician with Family Practice
Center, PC, was re-appointed to
the State Board of Osteopathic
Medicine by Governor Ed Rendell.
He was also re-elected as Chairman
of the State Board of Osteopathic
Medicine.
CHRIS W. FELLIN, MD, FACP,
AND H. WILLIAM MAHAFFY,
PA-C, hospitalists, completed the
Fundamentals of Critical Care
Support Course sponsored by the
Society of Critical Care Medicine.
This two-day certification course
was held at York Hospital in York,
PA.
JOHN P. FURIA, MD, presented a
scientific paper and served as an
instructor in a course lecture at
the Biennial International Society
of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery,
and Orthopedic Sports Medicine
meeting held in Florence, Italy. Dr.
Furia lectured on shockwave therapy
as it is used to treat common sportsrelated
tendon injuries.

J. LAWRENCE GINSBURG, MD, of
Lewisburg Family Practice and the
Vice President of Medical Affairs
at Evangelical, recently earned his
Master of Medical Management
(MMM) degree from Carnegie
Mellon University, Pittsburgh,
PA. He joins an exclusive group
of approximately 500 physicians
nationwide who hold the MMM
degree.
STEPHEN E. IRWIN, DMD, AND
JOHN C. MALLOY, DMD, of
Associated Oral Surgeons, PC,
recently sponsored continuing
education seminars on dental
implants.
THOMAS KREBS, MD, of Evangelical’s
Weber/Rinck Health Center
in Middleburg, was recertified as a
Diplomate of the American Board
of Holistic Medicine.
CHRISTOPHER LEE, MD, of
Family Medical Care, PC, received
certification from the American
Board of Family Practice.
MOHAMMAD MUNIR, MD, FACP,
a physician specializing in internal
medicine, was awarded a fellowship
by the American Academy of
Cardiology.
ERNEST NORMINGTON, MD, FACS,
a physician at Lewisburg Plastic
Surgery and Laser Center, had been
recertified by the American Board
of Plastic Surgery.
CHRISTOPHER D. OLSON, DO, a
physician with the Family Practice
Center, PC, recently served
as a delegate to the American
Osteopathic Association House of
Delegates in Chicago.
DONALD W. STECHSCHULTE JR.,
MD, co-taught a three-week course
titled “Third World Development”
in Nicaragua with Professor Paul
Susman of Bucknell University.
It focused on how structures in
places like the World Bank and
the International Monetary Fund
impact the poor majority in the
Third World.
JOHN F. TURNER, MD, FACS, was
named to the Patient Safety and
Quality Committee of the American
Society of Breast Surgeons.
P. RONALD ZUG, MD, recently
celebrated 30 years on the
Evangelical Medical Staff and
15 years as the Hospice Medical
Director. He will become chairman
of Evangelical’s Department of
Medicine in the fall.
