<strong>CYQ</strong> Qualifications for the Study Programme<br />

The following <strong>CYQ</strong> qualifications meet the requirements of the substantial vocational<br />

qualification for the Study Programme:<br />

1. <strong>CYQ</strong> L2 Diploma in Health, Fitness and Exercise Instruction<br />

Credit: 58; GLH: 398-412<br />

This qualification contains all the elements of fitness instructing (gym-based exercise,<br />

exercise to music, water-based exercise or exercise and physical activity for children)<br />

together with employment rights and responsibilities, career opportunities in the active<br />

leisure sector, customer service, nutrition and optional units to include walking, circuit<br />

training and group indoor cycling.<br />

This qualification provides entry to REPs (the Register of Exercise Professionals) at level 2.<br />

2. <strong>CYQ</strong> L3 Diploma in Personal Training and Instruction<br />

Credit: 48; GLH: 340<br />

This qualification contains all the elements of personal training plus business and marketing<br />

for successful business planning, programming for sports conditioning and delivering group<br />

exercise in an outdoor environment.<br />

This qualification provides entry to REPs (the Register of Exercise Professionals) at level 3.<br />

The following qualifications are in development for September 2013 to meet the<br />

requirements of the substantial vocational qualification for the Study Programme:<br />

3. L1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure<br />

Credit: 38-50; GLH: 300-415<br />

This qualification introduces learners to the sport and active leisure sector through exploring<br />

job opportunities and employment rights and responsibilities alongside improving own<br />

fitness, assisting in delivery of physical activity sessions and preparing for work placement.<br />

4. L2 Diploma in Promoting Wellness (working title)<br />

Credit: 49+; GLH: 348+<br />

This qualification is aimed at preparing learners to work with communities and individuals to<br />

improve health, and whilst containing elements of fitness instructing also contains<br />

entrepreneurship, community activation, walking, nutrition and health promotion.<br />
