The Pre-entry Level Curriculum Framework<br />

• One of ten recommendations in ‘Freedom <strong>to</strong> Learn’:<br />
‘A flexible and coherent curriculum at pre-entry level be<br />
developed <strong>to</strong> enable <strong>learners</strong> at this level <strong>to</strong> progress <strong>to</strong>wards<br />
<strong>the</strong> entry-level curriculum’ (DfEE, 2000)<br />
• It is not a set syllabus <strong>to</strong> be followed by a group of <strong>learners</strong>,<br />
nor is it a teaching manual.<br />
• Designed <strong>to</strong> allow individual <strong>learners</strong> <strong>to</strong> progress in <strong>the</strong>ir own<br />
way at <strong>the</strong>ir own pace.<br />
• To be used by staff across sec<strong>to</strong>rs even though <strong>the</strong>y may not<br />
describe <strong>the</strong>mselves as ‘teachers’, ‘trainers’ or ‘educa<strong>to</strong>rs’.<br />
