“<strong>Rail</strong>way Activities” has the same meaning “<strong>railway</strong> works”<br />

has in Schedule 3 <strong>of</strong> the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994.<br />

“Rollingstock” has the same meaning “rollingstock” has in<br />

Schedule 3 <strong>of</strong> the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994.<br />

“Significant Change” means an operational change that<br />

increases the existing LAeq <strong>noise</strong> level by more than 3 dB(A)<br />

within a recognised planning horizon (nominally 5 years).<br />

“Single Event Maximum Sound Pressure Level” means the<br />

arithmetic average <strong>of</strong> maximum levels from the highest 15<br />

single events over a given 24 hour period.<br />

“Unreasonable Noise” means unreasonable interference with<br />

the acoustic amenity <strong>of</strong> neighbouring <strong>noise</strong>-sensitive<br />

communities.<br />
