THIS IS WHAT’S IMPORTANT…<br />

SUPER-SIXES CRICKET FIELD POSITIONS<br />

UNDER 8S AND UNDER 9S<br />

Participation:<br />

If one team has 7 players <strong>and</strong> the other<br />

has 5 players then simply even out the<br />

teams to make 6-a-side.<br />

If one or both teams has an extra player<br />

then players rotate on <strong>and</strong> off at the end<br />

of an over as shown in the diagram.<br />

Every effort should be made to get as<br />

many of the kids involved at one time as<br />

possible.<br />

Winning <strong>and</strong> losing <strong>is</strong> not important in<br />

Super-Sixes so it does not matter which<br />

team they play for as long as they are<br />

playing <strong>cricket</strong>.<br />

Enjoyment:<br />

It’s all about getting the kids enjoying<br />

themselves <strong>and</strong> having fun.<br />

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS…<br />

Team Size:<br />

6 players per team<br />

No Balls:<br />

A bowler can deliver the ball up to two<br />

metre beyond the popping crease if<br />

they’re having trouble getting the ball to<br />

the batter.<br />

In the Under <strong>8s</strong> they are re-bowled at the<br />

end of the over – <strong>th<strong>is</strong></strong> <strong>is</strong> to be done by the<br />

use of a batting tee<br />

No extra delivery in the Under <strong>9s</strong><br />

Only if the ball bounces more than twice<br />

or rolls along the ground to the batter in<br />

Under <strong>9s</strong><br />

Dead Ball:<br />

In the Under <strong>8s</strong> they are re-bowled at the<br />

end of the over – <strong>th<strong>is</strong></strong> <strong>is</strong> to be done by the<br />

use of a batting tee<br />

Wides:<br />

In the Under <strong>8s</strong> they are re-bowled at the<br />

Bowling <strong>and</strong> Over Limitations:<br />

One over each in sequence until 12 overs<br />

have been bowled<br />

Fielding:<br />

Two <strong>field</strong>ers on each side of the wicket<br />

Batting<br />

Each batter will receive 12 deliveries<br />

Swap ends at the end of the over<br />

No individual penalty for being out<br />

Team penalty of 3 runs for each d<strong>is</strong>m<strong>is</strong>sal<br />

Wides <strong>and</strong> no balls are included in the<br />

number of deliveries, <strong>and</strong> these extras<br />

are added to the batters score for the<br />
