THIS IS WHAT’S IMPORTANT…
SUPER-SIXES CRICKET FIELD POSITIONS
UNDER 8S AND UNDER 9S
Participation:
If one team has 7 players and the other
has 5 players then simply even out the
teams to make 6-a-side.
If one or both teams has an extra player
then players rotate on and off at the end
of an over as shown in the diagram.
Every effort should be made to get as
many of the kids involved at one time as
possible.
Winning and losing is not important in
Super-Sixes so it does not matter which
team they play for as long as they are
playing cricket.
Enjoyment:
It’s all about getting the kids enjoying
themselves and having fun.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS…
Team Size:
6 players per team
No Balls:
A bowler can deliver the ball up to two
metre beyond the popping crease if
they’re having trouble getting the ball to
the batter.
In the Under 8s they are re-bowled at the
end of the over – this is to be done by the
use of a batting tee
No extra delivery in the Under 9s
Only if the ball bounces more than twice
or rolls along the ground to the batter in
Under 9s
Dead Ball:
In the Under 8s they are re-bowled at the
end of the over – this is to be done by the
use of a batting tee
Wides:
In the Under 8s they are re-bowled at the
end of the over – this is to be done by the
use of a batting tee
No extra delivery in the Under 9s
LBW:
Does not apply
Length of the Pitch:
14 metres for Under 8s
16 metres for Under 9s
Bowling and Over Limitations:
One over each in sequence until 12 overs
have been bowled
Fielding:
Two fielders on each side of the wicket

Batting
Each batter will receive 12 deliveries
Swap ends at the end of the over
No individual penalty for being out
Team penalty of 3 runs for each dismissal
Wides and no balls are included in the
number of deliveries, and these extras
are added to the batters score for the
Under 9s
