CCHA Mission
The Chaska Chanhassen Hockey Association
(CCHA) believes in creating an environment
which fosters the skill development of all CCHA
players with an emphasis on fair play and the pure
enjoyment of the game by its players. It will, to the
best of its ability, be fair in team selections, ensure
the quality of its coaching staff, and foster a
balance between playing and winning. This
program is created to stress sportsmanship,
friendship, goodwill, strong values, and
cooperation within its membership.

Coaching Requirements
• Register online CCHA website
• New: Background Screening process (on-line)
• New: On-line 5 hour age specific coaching
module for level you are coaching
• New: No CEP card collection – Now tracked
on-line

Player Commitment
"The D6 one league rule has been replaced with a player
commitment contracts that reads as follows -
COMMITMENT TO TEAM – Players are expected to participate
in all team activities (practices, games, tournaments, etc). An
allowance for an “excused absence” upon notice that is
reasonable under the circumstances may be established by teams
and associations. However, unexcused absence is grounds for
consequence to a player, as determined by the team or
association, up to and including suspension.

CCHA Code of Conduct
• Code of Conduct forms are required for every
role:
– Coach; Parent & Player
– Players, coaches, parents and spectators are to conduct
themselves in a manner that "honors the Game" and
demonstrates respect to other players, coaches,
officials, parents and spectators.
– Playing hockey in the CCHA is a privilege, not a right.
• All Code of Conduct forms will be collected by
your team manager once the teams are formed

• New position: SafeSport Coordinator is
required by USA Hockey, MN Hockey & D6
• CCHA will adopt Locker Room Supervision
Policy
• NON-COMPLIANCE- will result in team
suspension from games, along with fines
• Team manager will discuss how this can be
implemented for your specific team

• We depend on volunteers to keep our
association running smoothly
• You must set up a Volunteer profile along
with your standard profile EVERY season

Did you know?
• The mission of the “StormHawk” Awards program is
to recognize Squirt, PeeWee, Bantam, Junior Gold,
U10, U12, and U14 student athletes with a “B” (3.0
on a 4.0 scale) average during the school period
concurrent with the hockey season (November-
January).
• Eligible recipients, will be invited to the StormHawk
Awards Ceremony, WE each NEED
participant will be
individually recognized and receive a T-shirt.
• Your team VOLUNTEERS!
manager will administer this program with
the StormHawk Award committee in January.

Ouch! My fees went up �
• Fees are set to be equal to anticipated expenses
• Hourly ice rates increased at Victoria from $190 to $200 this
year (+ 5%)
• Hourly ice rates increased at CCC from $195 to $209 this year
(+ 7%)
• Coaching education costs quadrupled due to new requirements
• Cost of practice jerseys & equipment
• Admin assumption captures actual costs now (Admin, or
overhead, is 15% of expenses)

2011-12 Expenses

Fees – Final Assessments
• Remember – registration fees are only an
estimate for a C level team with 14 or 15
players. (B level for girls)
• Final assessments calculate more exact costs,
and the residual is billed or credited to player’s
accounts in late November

Ice
• Ice Coordinators: Kyle Billadeau and Bob Lanzi
• No changes in ice contracts from last year
• CCHA ice scheduling model places a high priority on the following:
– Using every hour that we have paid for
– Supporting objectives as laid out by the HDC
– Fairness to ALL teams (strive for even rotation of undesirable ice
times)
– Ensuring each team gets its budgeted hours
• Sunday night clinics for skaters and goalies will continue this year. Every
effort will be made to schedule Sunday games early in the day to avoid
conflicts. All players are expected to attend Skills Clinics (skaters and
goalies) these are not optional!

4 years ago vs. today

Squirt- 1 st year Families
• Going from skating 2.5 days per week to 4 days per
week
• From 15 games to 35 games (District 6 limit)
• Use of referees and scoreboard
• Responsible and Respectful use of the CCHA game
jersey (hanger and bag)
• Not OK to leave jersey in bottom of hockey bag
• No names on back of CCHA jersey

Practice/Game Schedules
• How often do we skate? (4 times per week)
1. Skate every Saturday and Sunday
2. Includes weekends around Christmas/NY
3. Plus 2 midweek touches, 1 of which may be
outdoor ice when available
4. Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings are
evenly allocated over all CCHA teams
5. All teams SQ A through SQ C, 10A & B have the
same budgeted hours (50)

Practice/Game Schedules
• When do we skate?
1. Weekday practices typically between 4:45pm and 9:00pm
2. Weekend times can start as early as 6:45am
3. 1-2 times per month expect a Fri or Sat night 9-10pm
4. Once per month may have a weeknight 8:45-9:45pm
– There are no set times for any team. We work to balance
the schedules fairly, so that no one team gets all of the
very early or very late times.

• Tryouts: October 6 – 14, 2012
• First practices: Week of October 15 th
• D6 Games: start Dec 1st and end March 7 th
• District Tournament: Squirts - March 7-12, 2013 at BIG
• No standings are kept for Squirts, and there are no
Regions or State Tourney
• 2 minute penalties have been reinstated

Squirt Program
• Currently seeing 98 skaters signed up
• 7 teams: 13-14 players per team; 1-2 Goalies
– Squirt A, Squirt B Black, Squirt B Purple, Squirt B Gold,
Squirt C Black, Squirt C Purple, Squirt C Gold
Placement is not the most important – it should be about
enjoying the game, team work & improving as a player!

Team Volunteers Needed
• Let your commissioner know if you are
interested in:
– Team Manager
– Team Treasurer
– Scrimmage Coordinator
– Locker Room Attendant

Tryout - Logistics
• MUST BE PAID IN FULL to get on ice
• Use your “secret” or “web” number and check web -
left tab has tryouts
• Scrimmages will be posted on web and times may
change slightly
• Final teams posted 1-2 days after try outs
• Opt out to C team is available – let me know
• Reminder- No AAA jerseys, socks or stickers on
helmets allowed
• Must have neck guards
