DHEKELIA SAILING CLUB<br />

<strong>Power</strong> <strong>Boat</strong> <strong>Course</strong> <strong>Application</strong> Form<br />

A) I the undersigned understand that I attend this course with the full knowledge that<br />

the club and its staff shall not be under any liability in the event of any injuries. I also<br />

understand that riding a powerboat can be dangerous and liable to injury if I am not<br />

entirely fit and healthy. If you have any disabilities or health related issues that may<br />

affect your ability to fully participate in the course, you are strongly advised to bring<br />

this to the attention of your instructor.<br />

The club (<strong>Dhekelia</strong> <strong>Sailing</strong> <strong>Club</strong>) and its Officials bear no liability for any injuries<br />

sustained during the course.<br />

You will be required to carry out a 50 metre swim test unless you have a certificate to that effect or have<br />

previously done one at DSC.<br />

Fees :- €150.00 Min age limit 18 Members have priority over non-members<br />

A non-returnable deposit of €50.00 is required with each application. This will be forfeited<br />

if the applicant books a place on a course but does not then attend that course*.<br />

You will be notified of your acceptance for that course, but you will still be required to confirm or deny your<br />

availability, in the event of you not replying, your name will be removed from the applicants list and your<br />

deposit will be forfeited.<br />

Please make cheques payable to Central Bank <strong>Dhekelia</strong> Support Unit<br />

After completing this form, applicants should hand it to a club officer and obtain a<br />

signature for the deposit at the bottom of the page.<br />

<strong>Course</strong>s are normally held at weekends. If you would like any further information about training at the club,<br />

please contact the Principal or any club instructor.<br />

Joining Information – <strong>Power</strong>boat Level 2<br />

Directions: DSC is opposit the <strong>Dhekelia</strong> Soverign base and adjcent to CESSAC and Lambros fish and chip<br />

resturant.<br />

Pass the southern (seaward) entrance to the base on your left heading towards the <strong>Power</strong> Station. After ~300<br />

yds, take the right turn into Agincourt Lane. At the crossroads continue straight on and the <strong>Sailing</strong> club can<br />

be seen directly ahead of you with its car park on the right.<br />

What to bring – we recommend a complete change of clothes that should include old rubber-soled trainers,<br />

shorts, a polo/T shirt and a sweater. A light spray top to keep out the wind may also be useful. Posing gear in<br />

not required at any time. Shower kit. A passport size photo will be required before we can issue a certificate,<br />

please bring one with you.<br />

Refreshments – the bar/galley is available for hot and cold drinks and sandwiches from 1000 hrs on<br />

Saturday and Sunday<br />

<strong>Course</strong> Content - the timetable, content and objectives will be explained to you at the beginning of the<br />

course. You should however be aware that the timetable may be changed or an additional day needed due to<br />

the weather or students progress, these changes will be explained to you by your instructor.<br />

Safety – is of the highest importance and buoyancy aids are available and MUST be worn when in the boats<br />

and on the pontoons. There is no exception to this rule for anyone. All the boats have buoyancy<br />

compartments and cannot sink.<br />

Hot showers - are available and most students use these at the end of each days training before the final<br />

briefing or lecture.<br />

Instructors- all the instructors hold a valid RYA qualification and the club is a recognized RYA Training<br />

Establishment which operates under the guidance of a Principal and Chief Instructor who also hold<br />

appropriate qualifications.<br />

<strong>Course</strong> Fees – are payable at the beginning of the course, no cash, no course, no exceptions is the club rule.<br />

The fees include the appropriate certificates and RYA log and training books.<br />

We hope that you have a thoroughly enjoyable course and the instructors will do all they can to enhance<br />

your skills. The course is intensive and there is much to learn.<br />
