EXPERIENCE the
Advantage
Why
With the exception of head-of-wall products, minimal
changes or improvements have been made to interior
drywall metal framing over the past 20 years. Today,
Dietrich Metal Framing proudly announces a cutting-edge,
industry-changing new development to interior drywall
metal framing — Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing. Dietrich
UltraSTEEL Framing is a next-generation roll-forming
technology that significantly increases product
performance, including greater load-carrying capacity,
higher limiting heights, better acoustical and
fire performance and easier installation.
BENEFITS of
Greater Load-Carrying Capacity
A simple load test on thinner Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing compared to traditional
metal framing proves Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing has an increase in stiffness and
load-carrying capacity. By using the Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing process, the depth
of the sheet is increased, thereby improving its sectional properties. Also, as the sheet
has been worked between the two forming rolls, the material yield has been increased
by the process of work hardening.
The Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing process increases the effective thickness of the
material (the depth of the double-helix ribbing) and, in practice, means that the gauge
of the metal can be reduced. The metal is stiffened by creating a double-helix dimpled
pattern on the surface of the material, which is then further strengthened through work
hardening by the combined effects of cold-roll forming, all in one continuous process.
Enhances Screw Retention
■
■
Independent tests have shown improved
screw retention characteristics.
The dimpled surface prevents screw
“spin out”.
Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing greatly reduces the
possibility of screw stripping. Screw stripping can
occur for a number of reasons, including steel and/or
gypsum variations. The Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing
cross-section ensures every screw is in contact with a
material thickness greater than the nominal gauge of
the steel. Furthermore, the location of screws within
Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing material creates inward
pressure around the point of contact as a pull-out
force is applied.
BENEFITS of
Unique Appearance Brand Identification
Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing isn’t just something you can feel —
it’s something you can see. The dimpled material provides a more
easily identifiable product. Over the years, a number of
manufacturers have duplicated or produced very similar products
— so similar that only a skilled professional could tell them apart.
As a result, it was very hard to determine which material was being
used. Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing has an easily identifiable pattern
that clearly identifies the Dietrich brand and ensures product
performance and specification compliance.
The Industry’s Only UL ® Classified Interior Stud
Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing — Defined
Dietrich UltraSTEEL Framing is an internationally patented method of
altering the characteristics of the base strip steel, providing higher
strength capacity from lighter gauge material. The process effectively
work-hardens the steel with two mating rolls. During the process, the
effective thickness of the material is increased to that of the original
thickness, plus the depth of the ribbing.
