JOSUE LOPEZ
“I became fascinated with nanotechnology during
the past two summers at Caltech while working
with teams that were developing Graphene, an
ultra thin, incredibly strong material that will have
many applications. Dr. Armando Rivera-Figueroa
is my mentor. He urged me to apply for the
Caltech summer internships during my freshman
and sophomore years at ELAC and I was able to
parlay this into the Northwestern experience.”
Josue has been selected for a 9-week research
program this summer at Northwestern University,
Chicago, one of the premier applied physics
research facilities in the country. He is the only
Californian selected to be among the 19 participating
undergraduates. He has already been accepted
to the engineering school at Rice University,
Houston, this fall, supported by a full
scholarship. “I also love Caltech and know that
I will continue on to graduate school—maybe I’ll
come home for that.”
