Physician Recruitment<br />
aving access to primary and specialty physician<br />
services is an important component of<br />

creating quality healthcare right at home. As the<br />
region’s healthcare resource, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong><br />
owns and manages a number of physician practices,<br />
as well as assists in the recruitment of experienced<br />
healthcare providers to our area.<br />
In <strong>2011</strong>, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> provided primary care<br />
services at Batavia Family Care, Byron Family<br />
Care, and Tountas Family Care in LeRoy. Services<br />
at the Tonawanda Seneca Nation are managed by<br />
UMMC through a contractual agreement with<br />
New York State. <strong>United</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> provides convenient<br />
leased office space to a number of physician<br />
specialists and<br />
The completion of the expansion project in 2010<br />
created one of Western New York’s most advanced<br />
surgical centers and assisted in attracting new,<br />
highly experienced general surgeons to <strong>United</strong><br />
<strong>Memorial</strong>. In <strong>2011</strong>, Dr. Anthony DiBenedetto and<br />
Dr. Rabie Stephan joined Dr. Anthony Froix in the<br />
Surgical Associates practice as general surgeons.<br />
By working collaboratively with the larger medical<br />
center, Rochester General, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> was<br />
able to provide the residents of our region with<br />
skilled surgeons with broad clinical expertise.<br />
In July, Medina <strong>Memorial</strong> Hospital in Orleans<br />
County announced that they would no longer provide<br />
maternity services. Through a unique agreement<br />
between the hospitals, <strong>United</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong> assumed<br />
management of Women’s Health Services.<br />
Obstetrician and Gynecologists, Dr. Courtenay<br />
Diehl and Dr. Michele Odrobina, and Certified<br />
Nurse Midwife Kim Danser, joined the UMMC<br />
<strong>Medical</strong> Staff. By the end of the year, Women’s<br />
Health in Medina and <strong>United</strong> <strong>Memorial</strong>’s<br />
Women’s Care <strong>Center</strong> fully merged into one practice<br />
with offices in Batavia and Medina. Women in
