Invent – Transforming Knowledge
into Commercial Success
DCU students with entrepreneurial flair have the opportunity to
transform ideas into successful businesses in a state-of-the-art
innovation and enterprise centre. Invent is a groundbreaking centre
for innovation, a catalyst for technology transfer, providing a dynamic
knowledge environment for entrepreneurs. It is responsible for the
management of the University’s research based Intellectual Property,
as well as its commercialisation through technology transfer,
licensing and the creation of campus companies. It also manages the
Innovation & Enterprise Centre located in the heart of the campus.

Library
DCU Library provides a spacious, flexible and comfortable environment
in which to study and work. You can avail of quiet individual study
areas or one of 17 collaborative study rooms specifically designed for
group project work. As a postgraduate student, you can also opt to
use a number of dedicated postgraduate study areas.
PCs are available throughout the library and laptop users can
avail of wireless network access or use one of the many dedicated
laptop points. By working closely with academic departments, the
library provides access to all essential texts and general research
material. From the library’s own website (either on-campus or at
home), you can access a wide range of information and services,
including research databases in all disciplines and over 30,000 fulltext
electronic journals. Using the library’s web-based catalogue,
you can also reserve and renew material online.
Library staff are available to provide one to one help and advice on
how to make the most of all library resources and services. You will
also have the opportunity to develop and enhance your research
skills by attending information literacy sessions, delivered by an
expert team of Subject Librarians.

Information Systems and Services
Information Systems and Services (ISS) provide computing and
networking facilities throughout the campus for use by the students
and staff of DCU. As a student of DCU, we will provide you with:
• Free wireless internet all over campus (phones and laptops).
• 7GB+ of email storage in your DCU account (keep on graduation).
• 1GB+ of online document storage (keep on graduation).
• Shared access to hundreds of desktop computers across campus.
• Facilities to print A4 pages in all computer laboratories on
campus.
• Access to course specific software in our computer laboratories.
• Personalised portal page for timetables, exam results etc.
ISS can help with any questions you have about the use of IT
facilities in DCU. In addition, they can offer support and advice on
the use and configuration of your personal laptop.

Registry
The Registry is responsible for the management and development
of the operational procedures and activities relating to academic
administration within the University including student admissions,
registration, student records, examinations and graduation. The
Registry is structured into two teams: The Student Enrolment
team is concerned with all aspects of the enrolment of new and
continuing students within DCU. This includes responsibility for
the processing of applications and registrations on all programmes
of study within the University. Changes to student registration
detail (including biographical updates, withdrawals, internal
transfers, change of module options and deferral of academic
year) are also maintained. The team is also responsible for the
management of the Student Information Area. The Student Awards
team is responsible for all aspects of the examination process,
including examination timetables, invigilation and examination
results as well as arrangements for the graduation ceremonies.
The team also provides services for the University in the area of
postgraduate research and external examiner administration.
The Registry is the only office in the University authorised to
provide students with statements of results, transcripts of
academic records and other forms of official certification required
