State University, Mankato. The goal <strong>of</strong> the<br />
conference is to promote the dissemination<br />
<strong>of</strong> empirically-oriented research from a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> disciplines within the field <strong>of</strong><br />
psychology. The conference is intended<br />
to involve a wide audience <strong>of</strong> students,<br />
faculty, <strong>and</strong> community pr<strong>of</strong>essionals.<br />
Speakers for the <strong>2010</strong> MCPP<br />
Keith D Allen, Ph.D., BCBA-D, is a<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in Pediatrics <strong>and</strong> Psychology at<br />
the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics<br />
<strong>and</strong> Rehabilitation <strong>and</strong> the University <strong>of</strong><br />
Nebraska Medical Center. His research<br />
<strong>and</strong> clinical interests include behavioral<br />
parent training, pain <strong>and</strong> stress-related<br />
disorders in children, autism spectrum<br />
disorders, <strong>and</strong> management <strong>of</strong> every day<br />
common childhood behavioral issues in<br />
school, home <strong>and</strong> primary care settings.<br />
He has published over 80 scientific papers<br />
<strong>and</strong> chapters on interventions with children<br />
with behavioral health concerns <strong>and</strong> he<br />
recently published a book on the science<br />
<strong>and</strong> practice <strong>of</strong> parent training, published<br />
by APA.<br />
Therese L. Mathews, Ph.D., APRN-NP is<br />
an Assistant Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in Pediatrics <strong>and</strong><br />
Psychology at the Munroe-Meyer Institute<br />
for Genetics <strong>and</strong> Rehabilitation <strong>and</strong> the<br />
<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Nursing in the Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Community Based Health at the University<br />
<strong>of</strong> Nebraska Medical Center. She provides<br />
diagnostic, advanced practice nursing<br />
management <strong>and</strong> psychotherapeutic clinical<br />
services for children with developmental<br />
disabilities <strong>and</strong> related mental health<br />
problems. Her current clinical <strong>and</strong> research<br />
interests include behavioral parent training,<br />
medication management <strong>of</strong> children with<br />
disabilities, social skills training for children<br />
with high-functioning autism <strong>and</strong> disruptive<br />
behavior disorders, community based<br />
participatory research, <strong>and</strong> community<br />
interventions that increase protective factors<br />
in children with history <strong>of</strong> maltreatment.<br />
Dr. Steven C. Norton, Ph.D., L.P., is currently<br />
in solo private practice in Rochester, MN<br />
<strong>and</strong> is also an Adjunct Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />
at St. Mary’s University. He currently<br />
specializes in Law Enforcement,<br />
Correctional, <strong>and</strong> Forensic psychology. He<br />
has conducted nearly 250 criminal <strong>and</strong><br />
civil forensic evaluations for various county<br />
<strong>and</strong> federal courts. Dr. Norton provides<br />
psychological services for several local law<br />
enforcement agencies, conducting over 150<br />
pre-employment psychological evaluations,<br />
plus Fitness for Duty assessments. Dr.Norton<br />
also has conducted pre-employment<br />
evaluations, participates in ongoing<br />
telephone consultation for returning <strong>of</strong>ficers,<br />
completed a two-week tour <strong>of</strong> duty in<br />
Baghdad Iraq <strong>and</strong> a one week tour in<br />
Amman Jordan, all with an international<br />
police agency which deploys law<br />
enforcement <strong>of</strong>ficers to Iraq, Afghanistan,<br />
<strong>and</strong> other conflict areas.<br />
Melissa A. Polusny, Ph.D., L.P. is a<br />
licensed staff clinical psychologist in the<br />
Post-Traumatic Stress Recovery Program at<br />
the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Medical<br />
Center <strong>and</strong> Core Investigator in the Center<br />
for Chronic Disease Outcomes Research.<br />
She also holds a joint appointment as<br />
Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in Psychiatry at the<br />
University <strong>of</strong> Minnesota Medical School.<br />
Dr. Polusny is an expert in the assessment<br />
<strong>and</strong> evidence-based treatment <strong>of</strong> PTSD.<br />
Dr. Polusny directs an active program<br />
<strong>of</strong> research investigating mental health<br />
risk <strong>and</strong> resiliency in combat veterans<br />
deployed to the wars in Iraq <strong>and</strong><br />
Afghanistan.<br />
Nona L. Wilson, Ph.D., L.P.C., is<br />
associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> counselor education<br />
<strong>and</strong> educational psychology at St. Cloud<br />
State University, where she teaches<br />
foundational courses in counseling <strong>and</strong><br />
specialty courses in college counseling<br />
<strong>and</strong> student development. She is a<br />
licensed pr<strong>of</strong>essional counselor <strong>and</strong> serves<br />
on the Minnesota board <strong>of</strong> behavioral<br />
health <strong>and</strong> therapy. She obtained her<br />
doctoral degree in counselor education<br />
from Ohio University <strong>and</strong> taught at South<br />
Dakota State University <strong>and</strong> University <strong>of</strong><br />
Wisconsin, Oshkosh prior to joining the<br />
faculty at St. Cloud State. Her clinical<br />
<strong>and</strong> scholarly interests focus on cognitive<br />
therapy, counselor preparation, <strong>and</strong> the<br />
intersection <strong>of</strong> media <strong>and</strong> mental health.
