They have been awarded certificates Mr Prashant Chaturvedi is in Northern Kentucky University under the International Leaders In Education Program (ILEP) This is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affaris of the United States Department Enjoying the -12 o C in the U.S of State and implemented by IREX (International Reseach and Exchanges Board). It aims to place the teachers in universities so that they learn among other things technology, attend seminars to further their understanding of the nature of education. The teachers will also be placed in different schools to observe how lesons are taught. They are expected to also participate in teaching with their co-teachers. Five students of class VI (Satyam Malik, Sarthak Agarwal. Tejas Agarwal, Govind Kela, Monish Choudhary) along with Mrs Siriah attended the Junior Round Square Conference at Daly College Indore from 7th to 9th Jan. 2011. They are superheroes but can you guess why Is it just because they’ve got supernatural powers NO. If you have seen serials, cartoons or movies based on them just reflect on them deeply and you’ll get the answer. They stand for justice, for truth, for love, for the people. Many of us would have secretly wished to be a superhero or maybe Spiderman at some point of time. But the truth is that there is a superhero hidden within each of us. The album which has ten tracks, includes almost every prime genre of music namely Rock, Hip-Hop, Bhajan, Folk, Jazz, Opera-Ballad, Romantic, R n B, a Remix and an unplugged version. The background of “Isi Life Mein” has also been composed by them, which means a wonderful variation for the audience to enjoy an amazing musical ride. To this my answer is that the only path is knowledge. The day you can sieve out right from wrong, the day you choose the path of honesty and justice for your self you’ll feel the superhero within you. Guide yourself through reasons and knowledge. One must at all cost stay away from fanaticism and superstition. The need is to aspire not just for the supernatural powers of a superhero but also to inculcate his superhuman qualities within you. Thanking you, Yours sincerely, LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Ma’am, Samik Ghosh Principal A very happy new year to the entire Scindian community. I passed out in the year 2005 from Jayaji house and after finishing my course in Petroleum Engineering, I am working as an Applied Petroleum Engineer in a country called Georgia. My work takes me all over Eastern Europe. I have come to realise that this job would appeal to a lot of Scindians who are thinking about pursuing classical engineering as a vocation. Each and every Scindian develops a love for the outdoors during his stint at the Fort. We are adventurous in spirit and my job presents such challenges and thrills on a daily basis. We work in extreme conditions, drilling at times up to 4 kms to discover oil. It would be my pleasure if I can guide and help any such individual who would want to earn laurels in my line of work. I am in touch with a few other Scindians who are working in the oil patch and it is our desire to see Scindians excel in the Oil and Gas sector. I would love to correspond with young Scindians and open up new vistas for the students of my alma-mater. To me Late Mr GK Kapoor was a wonderful teacher who later was also an educationist visionary, pardon me if I am wrong. He followed on from teaching in Scindia to teach in Birla Vidya Niketan Delhi, associated with link programs with Delhi Public School and the late Sir Gujarmal Modi School trust where he, I think, was also their Secretary General / Advisor for a considerable time. I am, I would say, fortunate that my interaction with him was revived in a professional capacity in 1997, a good twenty one years after passing out from Scindia -when I resettled in Delhi from Calcutta. This was during an assignment with British Council and Mr Kapoor was happy that firstly I had progressed in life, had a family of my own and secondly was with an international Institutional career organisation back drop that he much envied and respected me for. It was a great feeling to receive this compliment from him. Early last year I spoke to him after having left British Council and shared that I was aiming and proposing to establish a new institution project in Palampur HP with the State Government. This was to be in collaboration with the prestigious Bharitya Vidya Bhavan School Trust and the corporate sector. Mr Kapoor applauded this and said he was happy that atleast there is one old student of his from Gwalior he could be proud of -whose Physics may not have been the brightest but atleast he had the Mr G.K. Kapoor Obituary knowledge and tenacity to set up an Institution. Lately I and my family are perhaps one of the few recipients to receive on 24 Dec 2010 - a New Year cum Christmas greeting card from him duly signed all across with his usual initials. On receipt of this greeting my wife and I called and thanked him and I mischievously mentioned that only three old teaching vanguards of my 1968 - 76 , nine year era at Scindia School, The 3 K’s are yet marching on to 2011, Kapoor, Khar and Khan. (Little did I know that he would be gone in a fortnight's time) He corrected me promptly to add Mr Bharadwaj's name on this list and provided me with his residential telephone number. He spoke to me nostalgically of his wonderful days on the Fort with his compatriots Late Mr Sharief Ahmed and Mr BK Singh and their recent passing away and also of a very recent wedding that Kapoor Saheb attended in Noida of Javed Ahmed the youngest son of late Khalil Ahmed our old horse riding teacher. Neverthless - it is nice sharing with you as it only seems just more than a fortnight or so back that I last spoke to him. In the end as all leave including the greatest Mr Kapoor, the fundamental Physics and the method he applied to teach remains on to be passed by us and on to our next generation . May Mrs Kapoor and our school friends Atul and Mukul receive solace from the Almighty at this irrepairable loss . The entire Scindia fraternity mourns the sad demise of Mr G.K. Kapoor (former House Master Jeevaji House, former HOD Physics) who left for his heavenly abode on 12th January. May God grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss. We also mourn the passing away of Mr Jojo Pragya Gautam who breathed his last on 26th Dec 2010. He was a talented sculptor who will always be remembered for his beautiful art work. The entire Scindia community stands by the family in this hour of grief. The entire school wa shocked to hear about the sad and untimely demise of Mr Ambrish Pathak (former faculty of Social Sciences) who passed away on Saturday, 22nd January in a road accident. He had served in the School for two years. May God give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss. They were also taken for nature walk and bird watching. The staff attended a two day workshop on Friday 21st January and Saturday 22nd January. It was conducted by Dr Sue Lyle, Head of Continuing Professional Development of Teachers The Staff at the workshop. and Mr David Hendley, Senior Lecturer in Education at Swansea Metropolitan University, Wales, UK. The workshop aimed at improving the quality of teaching in order to directly affect the quality of student learning, with a focus on questioning skills and Assessment for earning. The appointments to the School Band: Band Majors: Kshitij Jain, Rishabh Jain Band Leaders: Yashraj Nain, Harshotsav Jalan, Devyash Gangwal On Sunday 23rd January students of Blind School visited the School. The students of Class IX who are enrolled for the Duke of Edinburgh Programme volunteered to take them around Maan Singh palace and Saas Bahu temple. They helped the visually impaired students appreciate the beautiful architecture by touching the monuments and getting a feel of them. These children put up a cultural program at the Adults’ School which was appreciated by all. They were then served lunch by members of Ladies Club and our volunteers. Finally uniforms were distributed to the children by Mrs Ghosh, President Ladies’ Club. On Thursday, 20th January a team of nine students (Kartikeya Krishna Bhargava, Sparsh Garg, Abhansh Deep, Anubhav Sarkar, Ayush Marwah, Aditya Sharma, Rohan Khandelwal, Anustup Garai and Ritwick Kumar Singh) participated in the ‘Kaho what’s your Idea’ Quiz at SKV. Kartikeya Krishna Bhargava was adjudged the first runner up.
