An immensely rare, 1950 model-year<br />
<strong>Porsche</strong> <strong>356</strong> pre-A (split-screen)<br />
<strong>Coupe</strong> with body-work by Reutter<br />
Karosserie, completed in February<br />
<strong>1951</strong>, the year after production had<br />
moved from Gmund., chassis #5447<br />
is among the first 500 cars produced<br />
from the first model-year of official<br />
<strong>Porsche</strong> production at Stuttgart, of<br />
which barely a handful remain<br />
complete and are still in running<br />
order.<br />
Delivered new in February <strong>1951</strong> to a<br />
customer in the United States, 5447<br />
remained in Michigan and California<br />
until being brought back to Europe<br />
and purchased by Sean Geddes (UK)<br />
in 2001.<br />
Since then, the car has undergone the<br />
most extensive and painstaking<br />
multi-year restoration in the hands<br />
of noted and highly-respected<br />
<strong>Porsche</strong> <strong>Pre</strong> A specialist restorer,<br />
Reinhold Plank in Bressanone, Italy.<br />
Plank oversaw the full restoration,<br />
utilising some of the best talents
<strong>1951</strong> <strong>Porsche</strong> <strong>356</strong> <strong>Pre</strong> A <strong>Coupe</strong><br />

from across Europe, including<br />
paintwork by Nostrini Massimiliano,<br />
culminating in the truly exceptional,<br />
top-concours finished car we now<br />
offering for sale. The restoration was<br />
carried out regardless of expense<br />
with thoroughness and accuracy as<br />
can be witnessed in the finished<br />
product.<br />
The restoration was completed in<br />
May 2010 and the car has covered<br />
merely 160km of testing since.<br />
Finished in Radium Green with the<br />
interior upholstered in Grey leather<br />
and cloth with walnut door cappings,<br />
complemented by a superbly<br />
finished dashboard of original<br />
instruments with correct cream-<br />
coloured switches and Telefunken<br />
radio, three-spoke steering wheel,<br />
transparent driver’s sunvisor and<br />
much more, all finished meticulously<br />
to the most exacting standards. 5447<br />
is also fitted with its original<br />
numbered type 369 engine, which<br />
has been totally re-built to 1300cc<br />
specification and runs superbly.

This meticulously restored early <strong>Pre</strong><br />
A <strong>Porsche</strong> is supplied complete with<br />
UK registration documents, MoT<br />
certificate and comes complete with<br />
early tool-kit and jack and a detailed<br />
photographic record of the<br />
restoration managed by Reinhold<br />
Plank.<br />
Recently shown at Villa D”Este,<br />
#5447 is a beautiful acquisition for<br />
the most serious of <strong>Porsche</strong> collector<br />
and a potential contender for future<br />
Villa D’Este or Pebble Beach<br />
concours.
