An immensely rare, 1950 model-year
Porsche 356 pre-A (split-screen)
Coupe with body-work by Reutter
Karosserie, completed in February
1951, the year after production had
moved from Gmund., chassis #5447
is among the first 500 cars produced
from the first model-year of official
Porsche production at Stuttgart, of
which barely a handful remain
complete and are still in running
order.
Delivered new in February 1951 to a
customer in the United States, 5447
remained in Michigan and California
until being brought back to Europe
and purchased by Sean Geddes (UK)
in 2001.
Since then, the car has undergone the
most extensive and painstaking
multi-year restoration in the hands
of noted and highly-respected
Porsche Pre A specialist restorer,
Reinhold Plank in Bressanone, Italy.
Plank oversaw the full restoration,
utilising some of the best talents

from across Europe, including
paintwork by Nostrini Massimiliano,
culminating in the truly exceptional,
top-concours finished car we now
offering for sale. The restoration was
carried out regardless of expense
with thoroughness and accuracy as
can be witnessed in the finished
product.
The restoration was completed in
May 2010 and the car has covered
merely 160km of testing since.
Finished in Radium Green with the
interior upholstered in Grey leather
and cloth with walnut door cappings,
complemented by a superbly
finished dashboard of original
instruments with correct cream-
coloured switches and Telefunken
radio, three-spoke steering wheel,
transparent driver’s sunvisor and
much more, all finished meticulously
to the most exacting standards. 5447
is also fitted with its original
numbered type 369 engine, which
has been totally re-built to 1300cc
specification and runs superbly.

This meticulously restored early Pre
A Porsche is supplied complete with
UK registration documents, MoT
certificate and comes complete with
early tool-kit and jack and a detailed
photographic record of the
restoration managed by Reinhold
Plank.
Recently shown at Villa D”Este,
#5447 is a beautiful acquisition for
the most serious of Porsche collector
and a potential contender for future
Villa D’Este or Pebble Beach
concours.
