Tardy Consequences<br />
1st Tardy: The teacher will record on Power<strong>School</strong> and will notify the student verbally.<br />
2nd Tardy: The teacher will record on Power<strong>School</strong> and will notify the student verbally.<br />
3rd Tardy: The teacher will record on Power<strong>School</strong> and will be reported to the office on an<br />
office referral form, the student will receive forty five minutes of detention and parents will be<br />
notified.<br />
4th and Subsequent: The teacher will record on Power<strong>School</strong> and will be reported to the office<br />
on an office referral form, the student will receive forty five minutes of detention and tardy will<br />
count as an unexcused absence. Parents will be notified.<br />
GRADES<br />
Parents are encouraged to actively monitor their student’s progress in courses using Power<strong>School</strong>.<br />
Printed grades are sent home periodically throughout the school year. At Back to <strong>School</strong> Night, parents<br />
who access Power<strong>School</strong> may decline to have printed grades sent home by signing a paper indicating<br />
they do not need paper grades.<br />
The grades at the end of a term (for a term class) and at the end of a semester (for a semester or yearlong<br />
class) reflect final semester grades in those courses. These grades become part of each student’s<br />
permanent record.<br />
GRADING POINT SCALE<br />
A+ = 4.33 A.P. Course are graded on a 5.00 Scale<br />
A = 4. 00 A- = 3.67 B+ = 3.33 B = 3.00 B- = 2.67 C+ =2.33<br />
C = 2.00 C- = 1.67 D+ =1.33 D = 1.00 D- = 0.67 F = 0.00<br />
ACADEMIC LETTER<br />
Student must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher for two consecutive semesters to earn an academic letter.<br />
Academic letters are presented at the Awards Assembly.<br />
DROPPING/ADDING ACADEMIC CLASS<br />
Dropping or adding an academic class must be done within two days of the start of the new term. Also,<br />
students may only have one study hall per term.<br />
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS<br />
In order to graduate from <strong>Anamosa</strong> High <strong>School</strong>, students must earn a minimum of 56 credits. Of these<br />
credits, students must earn six credits of math, eight credits of English, six credits of science, six credits<br />
of social studies, four credits of P.E., one credit of Human Growth & Development, one credit of<br />
Computer Applications, and one credit of Portfolio. Students must also attend CPR training. A student<br />
may earn a maximum of five credits in the Kirkwood High <strong>School</strong> completion program and/or an<br />
approved correspondence program while enrolled in the <strong>Anamosa</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>School</strong>s.<br />
