Overview
The IP Version 6 Test Option adds IPv6 capabilities to
AX/4000 Layer 3 testing by enabling detailed IPv6 packet
definition and automatic filtering of IPv6 substreams.
IPv6 improves IPv4's capabilities for addressing, options
support, and extensions. It also simplifies header formats
and provides flow-labeling capability while consolidating
authentication and privacy capabilities.
The IPv6 Test Option functions on a mAX test module with
a Layer 3 interface. Interfaces are available that support
Packet over SONET, IP over ATM, IP over Frame Relay, and
IP over Ethernet modes. An appropriate mAX technology
license for the interface mode is required.
Key Features
IPv6 Traffic Generation
• Hardware-based IPv6 addressing (128-bit)
• Pre-defined IPv6 addresses; step and random functions
for multiple addresses
• Sophisticated real-world traffic gen eration (QoS and
user packets) incorporates real-time traffic distribution
models, multiple packet length distributions, protocol
encap sulation, traffic shaping, and user-defined traffic
