NEW FOR 2012
Over the years, Carlisle Events has transformed the
fairgrounds to suit the needs of car show participants
and visitors. Following are some things that are
new for 2012.
CHANGES ON GROUNDS•••••••••••••••••••••••
Maintenance Has Moved — In the span of a month
this past winter, Tim Bowman and his crew relocated
from just inside of Gate 3 to the former Armory just
outside of Gate 5. Their new facility is at least twice
the size of their old shop. In addition, they’ve added a
full-time staff member, Dwayne “Buzz” Frey. Buzz had
previously worked part time for Carlisle Events.
Guest Services Has Moved — When you need information,
or a cart to haul your purchases, visit the
new Guest Services location in the building next to the
Grandstand — across the aisle from where the trailer
was. This building will also house giveaway registration,
showfield goody bag pickup and awards checkin
at our other events.
More Seating — Additional seating in the form of 15
bleachers will be available at various locations to give
you more choices to rest, eat and enjoy the event.
Pop a Top — The corner where the Guest Services
trailer was has been converted into a beer garden. It will
include occassional live entertainment as well. Thanks
to our catering partner Donnie Brown, you have yet
another option for relaxing and socializing with friends.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENTS•••••••••••••••••••
Auction Changes — During Carlisle’s inaugural partnering
with Auctions America by RM in 2011, threeday
auctions were held during Spring and Fall Carlisle
as well as during Auburn Spring and Auburn Fall in
Auburn, Indiana. In 2012, the Carlisle-based auctions
will revert back to a two-day format. Auction times will
remain the same (3-10 p.m.), and will take place Thursday
and Friday of the Carlisle events.
New Events, Part 1 — Beginning this year, Carlisle
Events will partner with the Dream Machine Club to
co-promote and produce a car show at the Bloomsburg
Fairgrounds in Bloomsburg, PA. The ninth annual
event runs August 10–12. Visit our website for updated
details.
New Events, Part 2 — The 2012 season has barely
started, but we’re already planning for 2013 and doing
so with the addition of an Outdoors show. The yet-tobe-named
event will take place in September, likely
the weekend after Labor Day, and will feature vendors
catering to hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts
of all types. Many details of this new event are still being
ironed out.
IAC Update — The IAC complex, located nearby on
Spring Road has been in the possession of Carlisle
Events since 2010. We’re working with the Mechanicsburg-based
Delta Development Group. They’ve
helped transform the Chocolate Avenue area of Hershey
into what it is today. In the end, our goal is to
make the property and Carlisle a better place for everyone.
EVENT DIRECTORY CHANGES•••••••••••••••••
New Directory Partnership — Carlisle Events has
partnered with Sports Car Market and American Collector
Car magazines for production of the event directories.
SCM/ACC will handle the majority of the
advertising and add some automotive editorial. The
directories are still free of charge and will also be distributed
to the SCM/ACC subscribers, newsstands and
area hotels.
Vendor Lists — We started an effort to list every
vendor under at least one category of merchandise
that they have for sale to make the shopping experience
easier to navigate. This listing is provided AT NO
CHARGE to the vendor. Additional categories may be
chosen at $5 each. By not choosing a category, vendors
risk not being found by shoppers. Also, vendors
will continue to be listed alphabetically, but without
their city and state.
FAMILY EXPANSION••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Carlisle Events was built on the strength of two
friends and their respective families. Now with a second
generation of Millers at the helm, Carlisle Events
would like to recognize growth among our staff members.
Since Spring Carlisle wrapped in 2011, our staff
has added four new babies. In May, Harold Brandt, our
chief financial officer, and his wife, Darlene, welcomed
Zack, and six months later in November, our Media
Relations Specialist Mike Garland and his wife, Alyson,
welcomed Abigail Jane. Not long after in January,
Sponsorship and Advertising Coordinator Aubrie Atwell
and her husband, Kyle, welcomed Alana Danielle.
Finally, Bike Fest and Truck Nationals Event Manager
Ed Scholly and his wife, Melissa, welcomed Kassandra
Ann in February. Four babies — one boy, three girls
and eight very happy parents!
As updates go, that’s it for now. We thank you for being
part of this and other weekends at Carlisle.
