McGann-Mercy’s Annual Christmas
Auction & Raffle Raises $125,000
Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School’s Annual Christmas Raffle and Auction held on
Sunday, December 7th, 2008 raised more than $125,000. Approximately 300 members of the Mercy
family, Alumni and community gathered to enjoy refreshments donated by Buoy One, Riverhead;
Digger O’Dells, Riverhead; Edgewater Restaurant, Hampton Bays; Keegan Ale, Rochester; Giorgio’s
at Fox Hill, Baiting Hollow; Rock Hill Country Club, Manorville and The Modern Snack Bar, Aquebogue.
Additionally, seventy silent auction baskets were donated by Mercy parents, and members of
our East End community. The grand prize winner of $20,000 was a resident of Westhampton.
Monies raised from this annual event helps to subsidize tuition costs. Annually, McGann-Mercy
students benefit from more than $1 million dollars in tuition assistance.

Booster Club Grants
a Wish
The McGann-Mercy Booster Club, currently
in its 3rd year, has had a tremendous
impact on the Athletic and Fine Arts Departments.
Led by current president Bruce Bradley,
the Booster Club’s goal is to assist these
departments by funding the purchases of
items that are not a part of the school’s budget.
At the beginning of each year, Coaches
and Fine Art Directors are asked to submit a
“wish list” of items in need but currently not
in the operating budget. The most recent
wish granted was to allocate funds toward
the purchase of a second scoreboard for the
gymnasium.
Fundraising for the Booster Club takes
on many forms. Memberships are offered at
$100 for a family and $35 for an individual.
The booster club also runs the concession
stand during varsity football games. This fall,
they held their first annual Pig Roast over
Homecoming weekend, which was attended
by over 200 families, alumni, and friends.
Most recently the club held their second
annual St. Patrick’s Day Fundraising Party at
Buckley’s Inn Between in Hampton Bays.
Due to their hard work and dedication
to the school, the booster club has raised
approximately $100,000 to support McGann-

McGann-Mercy Receives
$94,000 in Grant Money
The RTS Family Foundation of the Ayco Charitable Foundation and the
O’Sullivan Children Foundation have graciously provided financial assistance to
support academic expenses for the McAuley Program for Children with Special
Needs at McGann-Mercy. A $70,000.00 grant from the RTS Family Foundation
and a $24,300.00 grant from the O’Sullivan Children Foundation have made
it possible to provide children with special needs grade level instruction with
accommodations and modifications as needed in a Catholic school setting.
McGann-Mercy’s Annual Golf Outing
On Monday September 29, 2008 McGann-Mercy’s Annual Golf Classic
took place at the Long Island National Golf Club in Riverhead. More than 70
players enjoyed a fabulous day of golf and a wonderful dinner. The event raised
more than $20,000. Special thanks to the following committee members:

Marano.
