The Chronicles CONGREGATION OF THE RESURRECTION Office of the Provincial Superior 7050 North Oakley Avenue Chicago, IL 60645-3426 Phone: 773-465-8320 Fax: 773-465-8314 Dear Family and Friends of the Congregation of the Resurrection, A wise philosopher once said: “A year in one’s life cannot be measured by events or commemorations but rather by counting each day as important as the next day!” Perhaps most do not live with this free-spirited attitude but rather by counting the number of birthdays or anniversaries. 2007 is an important year for the Congregation of the Resurrection. This year marks the 200th Anniversary of the birth of our founder, Bogdan Janski. Bogdan Janski was an incredible man. His zeal for accepting God’s will was a critical part of his conversion from a life of despair and a critical part for his vision of resurrecting society. Bogdan Janski boldly proclaimed a sincere reliance upon God’s unconditional grace to strengthen one in following the example of Jesus Christ. He called his followers (the original Resurrectionists) to live their humble lives in service of the church by working for the resurrection of society. Resurrectionists through our many ministerial endeavors seek to bring to others this message of hope. Allow me to express a sincere note of thanks for your participation in our community’s apostolate of working for the resurrection of society. Your partnering with us encourages us to continue living out our calling to be Resurrectionists and allows us to spread this message of hope in our apostolic endeavors. We invite you to continue to share in this apostolic mission and spread hope in this turbulent world. Your financial support of our ministries and community are encouraging and life-giving. As a simple gesture of thanks, please know that you are remembered in our community prayers daily. Our bond of prayer for each other is an important method of dwelling in God’s love. We can experience our loving God in many diverse ways and one of those ways is to pray for each other. Please pray for us, Resurrectionists, as we promise to pray for you. April 2007 Did you know Father Edward DuBel, CR, celebrates his 50th Anniversary of Priesthood on June 1, 2007. He is Associate Pastor at St Bernadette’s Parish, in Panama City Beach, Florida. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them – may they rest in peace. Amen Father Steve Glab, CR, celebrates his 25th Anniversary of Priesthood on April 17, 2007. He is the Novice Master for the Congregation of the Resurrection and lives in Woodstock, Illinois. Father Richard Grek, CR, will be celebrating his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on March 11, 2007. He is a special assistant to the Executive Director of Resurrection Center, and the Sacramental Minister at Resurrection Center, Woodstock, Illinois. Brother William Hallas, CR, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Vows on January 6, 2007. He is Director of Development and Province Treasurer of the Congregation of the Resurrection – USA Province. Most Reverend Robert Kurtz, CR, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on March 11, 2007. He is the bishop of Hamilton in Bermuda. Rev Stephen A. Juda, CR Born: October 11, 1914 First Vows: August 15, 1935 Ordained: December 19, 1942 Died: October 10, 2006 Rev Dennis Sanders, CR, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on March 11, 2007. He is the Superior of the Archbishop Weber House in Chicago, Illinois. Rev Donald Suberlak, CR, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on March 11, 2007. He is pastor of St Mary of the Assumption Church, Three Oaks, Michigan and St Agnes Church in Sawyer, Michigan. Rev Gene Szarek, CR, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on March 11, 2007. He is Assistant Professor of Theology at Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois. Rev Gerald Watt, CR, celebrated his 40th Anniversary of Priesthood on March 11, 2007. He is the pastor at St John the Baptist Church, Johnsburg, Illinois. Rev Frank J. Majewicz, CR Born: October 29, 1946 First Vows: September 8, 1966 Ordained: March 9, 1974 Died: August 25, 2006 How to Put the Congregation of the Resurrection In Your Will After providing for their families and loved ones, you may want to put the Congregation of the Resurrection – USA Province in your wills, thus helping to assure the long-term future of the Congregation of the Resurrection’s Ministry. Bequests are free of estate tax, and can substantially reduce the amount of your assets claimed by the government. You can give needed support for the Congregation of the Resurrection-USA Province by simply including the following words in your will: I, give, devise and bequeath to the Congregation of the Resurrection-USA Province, 7050 N Oakley Avenue, Chicago IL 60645 (insert amount being given here) to be used to support the ministry of the Congregation of the Resurrection-USA Province. A bequest can be a specific dollar amount, specific piece of property, a percentage of an estate, or all or part of the residue of an estate. You can also name the Congregation of the Resurrection-USA Province as a contingency beneficiary in the event someone named in your will is no longer living.
