its advantages. Universal Forest Products (UFP) is
able to procure the highest grade lumber available
for UFP-Edge. We start with the best brite pieces—
free of wane and with only small, tight knots that
show the warm characteristics of natural wood—
so you can offer the finest pattern, fascia and trim
goods on the market today. Our diversified product
offering and meticulous sorting process allow us to
select the premium lumber for UFP-Edge products
and save lesser grades for other applications.
We have full control of the manufacturing process,
which allows us to produce a superior product.
We grind our own knives (and we grind them often)
resulting in near-flawless profiles without whiskers
or other defects. And because our products are
manufactured locally, they won’t sit in a yard or
distribution center, where they can be exposed
to the elements or to wear and tear.

coverage calculations
Siding and paneling are usually sold by the lineal (running) foot or the board foot.
To simplify cost and coverage estimation, select the appropriate factor from the table
according to the way the material is priced. The factors provided in the table can be
used to calculate the amount of material required in lineal feet or in board feet. In either
case, the square footage of the areas to be covered is calculated first, then multiplied
by the appropriate factor.
Procedure
1. Calculate the square footage in walls (length x width = square footage)
2. Calculate and subtract the square footage of openings.
Add 10% for trim and waste.
3. Multiply the result by either the factor for lineal feet or the factor for board feet.
4. Multiply the total footage required by the price (see store associate for pricing).
