2008-09 Volunteer Awards<br />

The dedicated involvement <strong>of</strong> volunteers makes all <strong>of</strong> <strong>Girl</strong> Scouting possible. Every day volunteers introduce girls<br />

to pathways and programs that shape these future leaders. The following volunteers were honored for their<br />

outstanding service to the girls and young women <strong>of</strong> <strong>Girl</strong> <strong>Scouts</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Atlanta</strong>.<br />

Thanks Badge<br />

The Thanks Badge is the highest honor given to an adult member and is awarded to those who<br />

have provided outstanding, consistent and<br />

long-term service to <strong>Girl</strong> <strong>Scouts</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Greater</strong><br />

<strong>Atlanta</strong> or to the <strong>Girl</strong> Scout Movement.<br />

Ruth Gaddis<br />

For the past 15 years, Ruth has served as a<br />

troop leader, day camp director, Service Unit<br />

Director and representative for the United<br />

Way. For the past two years, she has<br />

spearheaded the United Way <strong>of</strong> Northwest<br />

Georgia’s “Make a Difference Day,”<br />

making it possible for more than 300<br />

volunteers to serve.<br />

Mary Trice<br />

Over the last two decades, Mary has served in numerous positions,<br />

including troop leader for 13 years, trainer for 10 years, Service Unit<br />

Director for four years and cookie chair for three. Mary also coordinated her Service<br />

Unit’s <strong>Girl</strong> Scout Silver and Gold Award ceremonies for a number <strong>of</strong> years.<br />

Robert Pilgrim<br />

Robert is a lifetime member <strong>of</strong> <strong>Girl</strong> <strong>Scouts</strong> and began volunteering with his daughter’s <strong>Girl</strong> Scout troop more than<br />

10 years ago. Since then, he has served as a <strong>Girl</strong> Scout trainer, troop and day camp helper, and Cobb Leader Weekend<br />

team member. Robert has logged more than 500 hours for the preparation, presentation and evaluation <strong>of</strong> workshops.<br />

Outstanding Trainer Award<br />

This award is given to <strong>Girl</strong> Scout volunteers who serve for a<br />

minimum <strong>of</strong> two years as a trainer for volunteers and progress<br />

to the experienced or master trainer level, demonstrates<br />

long-term support <strong>of</strong> <strong>Girl</strong> Scouting.<br />
