unique to the individual incident and will vary in method and severity according to
history of problem behavior. Remedial measure shall be designed to:
If a student feels that he/she is being harassed or bullied, he/she should tell a trusted
school adult (teacher, school counselor, administrator) and parents immediately.
Please contact the school for more information concerning bullying and/or harassment.
School Bus Safety
Students are expected to behave in a safe and respectful manner and to follow
directions given by the bus driver. Students are to stay seated on the bus, demonstrate
self-control, and talk quietly. If the parent wants the student to ride a different bus on
a specific date, the parent must send a note stating the bus change, date, and reason
to the teacher. A bus pass will be issued for the student, and this is to be given to the
bus driver. Specific information about bus routes and times for bus arrival should be
addressed to the school system transportation department. This information is now
available on the WCS website (www.wcs.edu) under Bus Routes.
The bus drivers will notify the principal/assistant principal of inappropriate student
behaviors. Parents will be notified of any disciplinary actions and/or bus suspensions
of students due to inappropriate behaviors. A student’s safe and appropriate behavior
on the bus is paramount for the safety of all. Inappropriate behaviors, language,
conduct and unsafe actions will result in bus suspensions. The school bus is an
extension of school and all school rules and expectations apply.
Oak View adheres to the Williamson County’s transportation rules and regulations.
Field Trips
Field trips are part of the regular academic day. However, the school must have on file written
permission from the parent for a student to go on a field trip. Teachers will notify parents of time
and dates of field trips. Permission forms will be sent home for parental signatures. All students
must ride the bus, with their class, to and from all field trip locations. For different transportation
arrangements, special permission, requested in writing, must be approved by the principal prior to
the field trip. At various times parents are needed as chaperones. Parents that agree to chaperone
may not bring siblings and they must be willing to fulfill all required time and duties of the trip.
Parents, Visitors, and Volunteers
Parents and the community are welcome at Oak View Elementary School! To ensure
safety, all parents, visitors, and volunteers must sign in and out at the Welcome
Center and wear a badge. The school is required to document volunteer hours for the
school year so it is extremely important to document in and out times. Classroom
volunteers must schedule work dates and times with teachers. All volunteers must
adhere to the background clearance and fingerprinting requirements.
