Kenrose Spelling Bee 2013Kenrose is proud <strong>to</strong> have a tradition of incredible spellers in the ScrippsNational Spelling Bee program. This year’s School Spelling Bee included 224th and 5th grade students who won their classroom bees. Kenrose Elementary Spring Run ClubBeginning Wednesday, February 20th, Run Club will meet every Wednesday morning from 7:40 <strong>to</strong>8:15 am at the track. Run club will run through April 24th. We will NOT meet if it is raining (trackis wet and not safe) or if the weather falls below 32 degrees.Everyone is welcome <strong>to</strong> join us, from Kindergarten, <strong>to</strong> parents and staff!! You don't have <strong>to</strong> run; youare welcome <strong>to</strong> walk <strong>to</strong>o!! We will ask walkers <strong>to</strong> stay on outside track and runners on inside forsafety purposes.Six laps around the track is equivalent <strong>to</strong> one mile. Students 1st thru 5th can count this time on theirmileage markers. All students that sign up and attend at least 6 of the 9 weeks will receive a 26.2<strong>to</strong>e <strong>to</strong>ken in honor of the Kids Rock Nashville Marathon on Sunday, April 28th! You do not have <strong>to</strong>sign up for the marathon <strong>to</strong> participate in run club.Ideally, students log 25.2 miles before the marathon leaving the last mile <strong>to</strong> run on race day. Loggingand tracking miles this year will be the honor system. Logs will be provided for those studentsthat would like <strong>to</strong> keep track of their own miles.Our focus is <strong>to</strong> build up students endurance <strong>to</strong> complete the ONE mile on race day (if they are signedup for the marathon).To participate in run club, students must return the form below with a parent signature.
