Weight Watchers ate healthy,
talked, danced and got the
recent lunch crowd at Buddy's
in Farmington Hills in a party
mood.
Reseigh was the November
winner of The Observer
& Eccentric and Mirror
Newspapers "Dining With the
Stars." Reseigh was treated
to a limo ride, courtesy of All
Class Transportation, makeover
by Utopia Salon & Spa
on Main Street in Northville
(hair by Sebastian and makeup
by ILSE), a $100 gift certificate
to the Reaver Diamond
Co. in Southfield and a dance
exhibition courtesy of Fred
Astaire Dance Studio in
Bloomfield Hills.
"Florine Mark is a remarkable
woman and I would be
deeply honored to dine with
her," wrote Reseigh in her e-
mail entry. "She has shared
her life with us, with its ups
and downs, so that we may
meet the challenges we face
and be the best that we can be.
Her strength and positive attitude
is an inspiration to me
and many women. I would be
thrilled to meet her."
Reseigh got her wish.
"Lunch was great. The
winner, Anna Reseigh of
Rochester Hills is a beautiful
very thin woman. She had a
wonderful time with Florine,"
said Marcy Brontman of
Buddy's who organized the
"Dining With the Stars" program.
"Both Florine and Anna
danced. Florine danced with
Leonid Sidoranko (the male
dancer who took part in the
exhibition) and Anna danced
with Evan Mountain, owner of
Fred Astaire Dance Studio in
Bloomfield Hills. Florine can
dance," said Brontman. "The
other customers at Buddy's got
into the fun as well."
Reseigh said she had a great
time and "loved her makeover."
Robert Jacobs, owner of
Buddy's presented Mark with
a $500 check for the ALS
Association, the charity of her
choice. Amyotrophic Lateral
Sclerosis (ALS) is a motor
neuron disease, Lou Gehrig
first brought national and
international attention to
the disease in 1939 when he
abruptly retired from baseball
after being diagnosed with

Reseigh was among six
finalists in the November
competition. Mark is known
throughout metro Detroit as a
successful businesswoman and
philanthropist.
Mark has a "healthy"
pizza named after her on
the Buddy's menu. It's "The
Florine Mark Pizza" with
brick/fat-free cheese blend,
spinach, mushrooms, diced
tomatoes, garlic and black
olives.
Buddy's Pizza reviews all
entries for "Dining With The
Stars" and selects the top four
to five "fan" letters. The stars
featured for the month make
the final selection.
ACHIEVERS
Westland resident Alan
Spohn is among six graduates
from Kettering University
who will receive top honors at
the university's Dec. 15 commencement
exercises. i
Alan Spohn will receive the
President's Medal, given to
graduating seniors who excel
in scholarship, in professionalism
on the job, in their academic
pursuits, involvement
in the Kettering community
and in their home community.
Students are nominated by
employer partners, faculty
and staff, and are selected by
a committee appointed by the
president of the university.
Spohn also has been named
a Sobey Scholar. Students
received the distinction by
earning election to membership
in both Tau Beta Pi and
Robots as an engineering
majors or into membership of
Sigma Alpha Chi and Robots
as management students.
Keith Gotshaw of Garden
City and Cheryl Tate of
Westland were among students
graduating from Spring
Arbor University in October.
Gotshaw received a bachelor's
degree in family life education.
Tate received a master
of arts degree in organizational
management.
Wayne Memorial High
School students Heather
Gendron, Dakota Butler and
Joshua Bradley qualified as
finalists in the 51st annual
Michigan Mathematics Prize
Competition. The trio finished
among the top 1,000 students
from among 10,000 students
in Part I of the competition.
As finalists, the took Part
JI on Dec. 5. That exam consisted
of five challenging problems
to which the students
had to provide written explanations
for their claims and
mathematical proofs of their
results.
The students with the top
100 scores on the two parts
will be invited to an Awards
Day program next February
at Oakland University. The
top 50 will be presented with
scholarships ranging from
$250 to $2,600 for the firstplace
winner who will be designated
the Ford Scholar in
recognition of the donation of
the award by Ford Motor Co.
